You should have stopped in Ogalala. Captain Call and Newt have a good diner there. Actually, I've spent many nights in small and mid sized Nebraska towns. Fast food has killing small town restaurants throughout this great country. But you can find a few local places here and there. Sometimes just a local bar that makes a good burger is your best bet.
Burn it down, scatter the ashes, salt the earth. (Or just enjoy a nice nap/read a book while the participants/profiteers do it for you. That'll work.)
