Melissa Young

This item is old so far as swiftly evolving current events go but there is so much misapprehension propounded across the internet and so many lies and so much blind hatred and American news services so unreliable that it bears showing again. This occurred at one of Trump's rallies and on first viewing has the look of something that's been staged. I thought so then but since changed my opinion as more and more such incidents come to light.

Melissa was an entrant in one of Trump's beauty pageants. I had completely forgotten about those. I never did watch any when they were happening. She has an incurable disease, her prognosis does not look good at all, she had a "do not resuscitate" order as her conditioned worsened.

Trump sent her a handwritten note of encouragement that gave her strength during that discouraging period that helped her refocus on the needs of her family. She also thanked Trump for the fame that came with the pageant experience that helped her son secure a full scholarship.

I've had enough of internet videos with their obnoxious and unrelated advertisements so I'll give the link to The Gateway Pundit instead. The advantage is the uncharacteristic comments that note the original report cannot suppress their own doubt with qualifying locution: a supporter who claimed to be Miss Wisconsin.

101 comments to the item at Gateway are uplifting themselves.

I'm impressed. Not so much with Donald Trump's handwritten note, not with his unrecognized magnanimity, rather, deeply negatively impressed with how preconceived hatred is so blinding that it turns good people into intolerable monsters, and how sensible people conservative in all that they do allow political misdirection received from unworthy agencies to warp their spirit and distort their own personality.

This is one such contradictory item. There are many others and I have no doubt many more similar incidents that for privacy we will never know.

I hear both my parent's voices now admonishing, "Choose your friends wisely." A thing not so easy to do, because to choose you must first make friends by becoming friendly then decide if it's good to continue, and not eliminate friends based on breezy unchecked faulted premises such as all Democrats are good and all Republican are bad by definition.

My parents left out, "Don't be automatic haters. It makes you stupid and mean."

You Scream, I Scream....but these Mooks steal for Ice Cream!

Ice cream bandits are wreaking havoc on NYC supermarkets

 New York Post

Two-bit ice cream thieves are enraging billionaire John Catsimatidis.
The supermarket magnate has issued a $5,000 reward for information on a gang of crooks swiping ice cream from his stores and then peddling it on the cheap to bodegas, which illegally resell it.
“They keep stealing it because it’s an easy item to sell,’’ Catsimatidis groused to The Post on Thursday, adding that he suspects most of the thieves are junkies.
“The bodegas buy it, they encourage it,’’ he added.
A Bonnie-and-Clyde duo coolly hit up Catsimatidis’ Gristedes store in Chelsea on Tuesday, stuffing 80 cartons of Häagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream into four bags before making for the door.
Police said the man and woman swiped 49 cartons of Häagen-Dazs and 31 of Ben & Jerry’s at the Ninth Avenue location.
The thieves were foiled when workers chased them and grabbed their frozen loot as they fled.
Store manager Robert Montalvo said he and two clerks cornered the “drugged-out-looking” pair at the exit.
“The guy said, ‘We got this from another store.’ I’m like, ‘Really?’ ” Montalvo said.
Police said the theft fits a citywide pattern.

Pence leaves stage at Lancaster PA for a moving emotional moment.

The boy's father is terminally ill. The boy is asking about Trump and Pence supporting "Right to Try" legislation. Pence does not wait for the boy to finish his question, rather, he leaves the stage and hugs to boy tightly while his mother chokes through rest of the question, a statement actually, to raise awareness about the legislation.

It's touching. It shows right wing politicians are actually human, counter to popular opinion.

Right to Try is legislation that allows terminally ill patients to access treatments that have passed basic safety testing but not yet available to the public.

I recall this being an issue when AIDS became critical and patients were dying in large numbers while denied medications that had not yet passed through the very long approval process.

A troubling sign.....or a sign of things to come?

An NCO leaves the US Army
By Vox Day @Vox Popoli August 13, 2016

And none too soon, by the looks of things:
I leave the Army for good in September of this year.  My chain of command has been shell shocked that I am going through with it.  Two years ago when I first came to grips with what was happening and resolved to no longer be a part of it, there was derision and even an officer telling me that voicing my opinions about the state of the US economy and its moral failings could be considered a violation of the UCMJ for conduct “prejudicial to good order and discipline.”

When I gave my Operations NCO a copy of the book “A Distant Mirror” by Barbara Tuchman he came to me a month later stating that if there is a civil war, he and his fellow Hispanics will “have to choose sides.”

When I told my first sergeant why I would not be re-enlisting, she said “Don’t you want to re-enlist to get your 20?”

I said that I wanted to re-enlist, but I couldn’t, that my pension was nothing compared to being prepared to sacrifice my life. Then she and I went on to discuss my (your) ideas on why there was a possible collapse of the US government in the future, she went from denying the possibility to stating “Well, it all depends on what level of collapse you’re talking about,”  needless to say I was stunned.

The re-enlistment NCO refuses to talk to me, and several other mid to senior level NCOs who previously thought I was kidding have left the Active reserves for the Individual Ready Reserves.

One stated that he too was disgusted with both candidates for president and then asked me if I thought things would be so bad, why wouldn’t I stay in and try to fix things “from the inside”?  I cited the example of the Yugoslav army and how there were fire fights within units and stated that I would refuse to follow unconstitutional orders.  I then asked, “Don’t you think if one of the two candidates gets in power that either might order the power of the state to be used against their political enemies?  That’s what would be likely to START those kinds of firefights, right?”
If you're not familiar with military culture, NCOs are the mortar that hold the whole thing together. Young officers are eminently replaceable, as new ones can be trained up in a matter of months, but the veteran NCOs that provide them guidance are not.

Trump campaign launches drive to recruit 'election observers'

PoliticoDonald Trump's campaign is seeking to recruit "election observers" following the Republican nominee's repeated claims that the general election is "rigged."
In a move that's unprecedented in a presidential election, the campaign late this week launched a page on its website proclaiming, "Help Me Stop Crooked Hillary From Rigging This Election! Please fill out this form to receive more information about becoming a volunteer Trump Election Observer."
Those who wish to be a Trump "observer" are asked to fill out information on the website that should match their voter registration. Once submitted, voters are directed to a donation page.
Hours before the site gained traction Friday night, Trump said at a rally in Altoona, Pennsylvania, that the only way he would lose in Pennsylvania is "if cheating goes on."
“She can’t beat what’s happening here. The only way they can beat it in my opinion, and I mean this 100 percent, if in certain sections of the state they cheat,” Trump said of Clinton campaign in Pennsylvania.
You could say Bernie was just spring training for the DNC, or, in the other hand, if you are an "in the other hand" type of person, is this a preemptive election postmortem? Should Trump loose, he could say, 'See, I told you so. They rigged it.' I believe in the casinos, and in the money game Chelsey's husband plays, they call this hedging your bets? Maybe you guys can correct me on this.

This one's for you ed!

Weiner cought in new flirty online chat

NY PostFirst he was Carlos Danger. Now — in yet another sexting scandal — he’s a randy “mongoose.”

Sext fiend Anthony Weiner boasted of his animal prowess — claiming he was “deceptively strong . . . like a mongoose” — and gave his cellphone number to a college student during a flirty, private online chat on a recent trip to Los Angeles, The Post has learned.

But the joke was on the horndog pol, whose wife, Huma Abedin, is a top aide and close confidante of Hillary Clinton.

A young Republican-turned- “catfish” baited the disgraced former congressman into chatting about “strappy black heels” and “porn scenes.” Weiner even made a cornball double entendre about his “staff.”

“Funny scene here,” Weiner writes in one of the Twitter direct messages, sent from his hotel room in LA, where he had traveled to appear on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

“I moved the tv so I could hear/see it while in the shower. I dropped it. Neighbor complained. Me Towel. Tv. Floor. And now concierge on the way.”

The student, a New Yorker using a female friend’s Twitter account and calling himself “Nikki,” responds, “Come out with just the towel on when he/she knocks, would pretty much = a tip for the concierge.”

Weiner answers, “This is definitely a porn set up.” (Link to the rest with Weiner's chat screen caps)

Guccifer 2.0 August 12, 2016

This is all contact information. There is also a cheatsheet for Debbie Wasserman Schultz's attacks against her Florida opposition. All the attacks are against standard conservative positions and all the names are Florida congressional candidates.

There is another page nicked from Pelosi's computer, a spreadsheet with names and positions useful to her, or names of people simply attending a conference.Still, the names are released. They mean nothing to me.

All this is here on wordpress.
The new DNC documents are here.

The material is more embarrassing than damaging, it seems, at first gloss. So far there is nothing so unusual. Save for the innumeracy that one commenter noticed a single line on a spreadsheet. Something about hijinks $15.00 each X 100 = $15,000. Nice catch. (unless this is one way to pocket an easy $13,500. After all, it's only other peoples' money.)

Guccifer says:

Hi all!
It’s time for new revelations now. All of you may have heard about the DCCC hack. As you see I wasn’t wasting my time! It was even easier than in the case of the DNC breach.

As you see the U.S. presidential elections are becoming a farce, a big political performance where the voters are far from playing the leading role. Everything is being settled behind the scenes as it was with Bernie Sanders.

I wonder what happened to the true democracy, to the equal opportunities, the things we love the United States for. The big money bags are fighting for power today. They are lying constantly and don’t keep their word. The MSM are producing tons of propaganda  hiding the real stuff behind it. But I do believe that people have right to know what’s going on inside the election process in fact.

To make a long story short, here are some DCCC docs from their server. Make use of them.

Publication Passwords
2016 Cycle Passwords
Coordinated Shared Passwords

Guccifer: By the way, the complexity of the passwords leaves much to be desired.

Here are more docs from the DCCC server.

Copy of 114th Congressional Contacts
FL-18 Campaign Overview
FL-18 Campaign Overview Appendix

These docs are from Nancy Pelosi’s PC

Pelosi_Carroll Event Memo

Those are the documents posted to the site along with links that download to your computer.

Comments on Guccifer are as interesting to me. Here is a sample.

* Jessy Han asks: Where is all the info from the GOP?

He is answered immediately by eight people

* After all the blatant and cynical help Clinton is getting from all the MSM, who the fuck cares!

Why don’t you tell the MSM to treat Trump fairly and to stop whitewashing and covering for Hillary, they do it openly and boast about it now, WTF?? All of you are hypocrites.

* Who the fuck cares? Democraps & Repugnantcans are all the same nowdays…

* You care enough to read t he article and comment…. just sayin

* Behind better firewalls.

* That’s your answer to this breach of the Public Trust by your party? For real jessy, even if GOP has anything like this(I’m sure there’s SOMETHING)that does not nor should not lessen the impact of the extreme level of corruption practiced by these…elites! Vote your one vote and make it count(because there is NOTHING else you or I can do!

* The GOP isn’t hated it seems. So much for the “reset”. Obama has alienated and lost respect from every country on earth. As for Trump.. yea.. he’s “mean”. So what? So is Putin. Russians are proud. Americans are pissed. This is the result. I’m tired of paying for your phone. Get a job!

* The Republicans aren’t trying to rig the system and steal the election.

* Just call them racists they’ll give you what you want.

That is my favorite response.

There is more along this same line.

* Why doesn’t Guccifer grow a pair and post the really meaty stuff of the RNC since they are the ones who make all the decisions for the US government or are they in their pockets too???

Rachel is answered

* The Executive branch is run by the Democrats..

* You are an ignorant hypocrite, and stupid to. I don’t need to clarify, your post does that all by itself.

* Another democrat that thinks that this is a reasonable answer! The only REAL thing to do is to bring it down, and you MUST <know how to do that-don't you?

* The PEOPLE are taking care of the RNC – through the election process, with Trump. He is our method of destroying the republican establishment. With the vote.

* Really? Is Obama that impotent. Seems to me the RNC passed the Omnibus, let Obamacare pass. Hasn’t refuted ONE executive action.. No no no.. your boy has run the show for the last 8 years.. Or are you going to tell me he’s impotent? If so, you’re a racist. Yea, that’s from your playbook liberal fuckwad.

Wow. It's as if I'm holding up a mirror. Are all these people answering actually me? Is this some kind of trick?

This guy appears to be of two minds:

* You are a government all by yourself. Some might say a dictatorship. But if you are revealing the truth regardless of your motive, then you are a legend. The questions remain, how do we overcome the direction of our planet being environmentally destroyed, our children growing up with same sex marriage and unseemingly same sex relationships being accepted as Popeye and Oliveoil cartoons?

Is there some way to overcome the machine that is destroying our belief in people or has our population come to the margin of too many and reduction by any means necessary?

Your aware that ever federal agent in America is seeking you now, I cannot publicly condone what you are doing, but I will say corruption at its strongest should not be shielded from the law. Be careful and keep up the good work.

And so they go. This remark is antagonistic and challenging. He is frustrated that readers don't do enough with this information. While all he does himself is to say, "stand up all American hackers and take down Hillary's & Democrats' America." It's nonsense but interesting for its fury.

* Guccifer 2.0 has done what no American dares to do. He brakes the law to save a nation from evil people who’s agenda is to destroy America. The boneless, cowardly American people dare not do this. The cowardly American talks but never acts, speaks but never hears or listen, sees but does not learn or understand until it’s too late. A real hero stands up risking life and limb. Where are the hero Americans? They’re having coffee at Starbucks caring not for Guccifer 2.0 or America. Stand up all American hackers and take down Hillary’s & Democrats America. It’s time to destroy the real enemy of America, the Democrat Party Plantation Owners and their public faces. It’s time to root them out of all government and America. Send them to Mexico, build a wall (Mexican Paid) and keep them out.

Seems conservatives voter's spelling and grammar and punctuation are worse even than my own and so are their potty mouths. The contact information is not so useful for me. I cannot see myself using any of it, while the tenor of the comments is as informative. The pingbacks go to places I've not heard of before.

I tried using a login and password for Lexus Nexus but that was unfruitful. I'm curious how that site operates. The login worked but the password did not. Lexus Nexus would helpfully remind me if I chose to persist but I was only curious at that point. Journalists are responding and asking for more of the detailed dumps that Guccifer offers. They get paid for digging up damaging items. I don't. And I have my mental health to balance.

One more interesting item, Glenbeck.com is one of the contacts that is hacked. The password is "nutjob."

These people really do have terrible passwords. Whatever your own passwords, they're undoubtedly better than these. Meerkats4ever? Come on.

Make America's Burgers Great Again!

Americans aren’t eating burgers anymore

By Lisa Fickenscher New York Post Business Section August 12, 2016

A new chapter in the burger wars is starting to sizzle — but don’t expect dollar meals at any of these joints.
The latest burger battle is being waged in the $3 billion better burger segment — where Five Guys, Shake Shack, Smashburger and at least 30 others serve up $8-plus burgers made with fresh beef and no preservatives.
The sector was red-hot a decade ago — and attracted lots of new entrants, many with a plan to blanket the country with stores.
But business began to fall several years ago — and with many chains still pursuing aggressive expansion plans, some are predicting a shakeout is coming.

Many of us here despise the media but who exactly is "the media"?

Speaking just of TV, is it Ted Baxter, Murray Slaughter, Lou Grant, or Mary Tyler Moore?  Is it whoever owned the station they worked for? Each of them played interconnected roles.

"As Far As Your Brain Is Concerned, Audiobooks Are Not ‘Cheating’"

The Science of UsThis question — whether or not listening to an audiobook is “cheating” — is one University of Virginia psychologist Daniel Willingham gets fairly often, especially ever since he published a book, in 2015, on the science of reading. (That one was about teaching children to read; he’s got another book out next spring about adults and reading.) He is very tired of this question, and so, recently, he wrote a blog post addressing it. (His opening line: “I’ve been asked this question a lot and I hate it.”) If, he argues, you take the question from the perspective of cognitive psychology — that is, the mental processes involved — there is no real difference between listening to a book and reading it. So, according to that understanding of the question: No, audiobooks are not cheating.

His reasoning reveals some fascinating insights about the way the brain makes sense of language, whether written or spoken. But first, consider what that assertion — that listening is cheating — is saying: It suggests that the listener got some reward without putting in the work. Because that does seem to be the typical argument, Willingham said. “It’s not that you’re missing out on something, or it’s not that this experience could be better for you,” he told Science of Us. “It’s that you’re cheating. And so they think you’re getting the rewarding part of it … and it’s the difficult part that you’ve somehow gotten out of.” So that implies, Willingham argues, that to your brain, listening is less “work” than reading. And that is true, sort of — but it stops being true somewhere around the fifth grade. (read the whole thing)

Relative of mine was a mystery shopper and did a lot of car garages. He would get sent in with a car and had to get it serviced and reported on how well it was completed/if they found all the faults/ if the customer service was up to scratch etc. The results were usually 6/10, until suddenly every garage was a 10/10 continuously. He investigated as it was a bit suspicious and found "MYS" (Mystery Shopper) written on the bottom of the car he was given. One of the garages sussed him out and wrote it there for future garages to find, and make sure they have it the best possible service.

Victory bonuses and medals are seen by the IRS as being like any other prize winnings, such as lottery, casino or game show winnings and, thus, are taxable.

Trump Update

The HillFor the second time in less than a month, GOP presidential nominee is writing off a statement many found offensive — this time, that President Obama was the “founder” of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) — as “sarcasm.”
“ISIS is honoring President Obama,” Trump said Wednesday during a rally in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. “He’s the founder of ISIS. He founded ISIS."

“I would say the co-founder would be Crooked Hillary Clinton,” Trump added of his Democratic rival and Obama’s former secretary of State. Trump has previously referred to each as ISIS's most valuable player as well.

"Woman Fighting Fine For Selling Tamales Without Permit"

CBS DWF:  “It’s just so common. That’s why to me, I don’t understand why it’s such a big deal,” said Cruz.
When she called the city, a clerk told her someone reported her for not having a food permit to sell the tamales.

“I don’t understand because if anything I would have rather them come to me first if they had any concerns,” said Cruz.

Carrollton Environmental Services said it takes food borne illnesses very seriously.

A director said a fine was issued and not a warning because tamales are considered “potentially hazardous food” due to the cooked corn and meat being used.

“What if somebody got sick from them? What if somebody could have died from them? And I completely understand those concerns,” said Cruz.

But she feels the city’s actions are a little extreme. (video at the link)

More Good News from the Obama/Clinton Economy.....100 Macy's will be closed!

New York Post August 11, 2016 by Lisa Fickenscher
Macy’s is closing 100 stores and Wall Street rewarded it with a standing ovation.
Shares shot up nearly 17 percent Thursday after the nation’s biggest department store chain announced the closures and pointed to an improvement in sales trends after six straight quarters of declines.
Slimming down the 748-store count by 14 percent is a key part of Macy’s turnaround strategy, which also includes leveraging its significant real estate assets.
The retailer is selling its highly successful men’s store in Union Square, San Francisco, with plans to reinvest the valuable real estate proceeds in other parts of the company, such as beefing up its digital bona fides.
“We now believe we are set up well to proceed to a comeback,” Macy’s Chairman and CEO Terry Lundgren said in a statement. “Our sales strengthened month-by-month throughout the second quarter. This trend improvement gives us confidence in our plans for the back half of the year, and in our strategic planning for improvements to our business model going forward.”

Whigs

Way back in the previous century my old man would say to me, “You know, Son, it’s not what you know it’s who you know that counts,” and I’d answer, “Thank you, Dad, that’s a very good thing to know.”  He also said repeatedly, another axiom he lived by and conveyed repeatedly, several times a year, actually, “You know, Son, it doesn’t matter how much you know, it’s all useless unless you  have that sheepskin,” and I’d answer, “Dad, I do know diplomas are printed on paper.” And the whole time I’m thinking, “Dad, if you’re so smart then prove it by applying that to earning your — parchment."

And that seemed like good idea for myself. If I think I’m so smart, then maybe I had just prove it at least to myself by taking college level exams. So I did. One after another until a full year’s worth of college was credited by simply taking  college level exams.

They’re fun. And presently only $80.00. Compare that cost to the cost of university.

Recommended. For fun.

Give it a go. CLEP verisimilitude.

One of the exams was American history. The subject divided into two part. This exam counted for double course credit. It counted for two American history courses. A nice chunk. The text recommended at CU Denver campus is conveniently divided US history in half very close to the exams, pre and post Civil War. I read the college text book in a few days by way of review and I hasten to add it really is fascinating taking it in all at once like that and seeing again all the significant episodes put in their place in time so that the whole American experience runs like a river, its banks shifting in accommodation to its apparent ineluctable flow.

After all that bragging, after all that reassuring myself, after all that review and actual testing, and after all the intervening time, I still did not know 1/100 about the Whig party as this single Wikipedia page presents. Despite its source of received wisdom of consent it is a very good and informative page.

"German intelligence warns of IS ‘hit squads’ among refugees"

"Official says country has to accept it is home to terror ‘sleeper cells.’"
German intelligence services have evidence that “hit squads” from the Islamic State terror group have infiltrated the country disguised as refugees, the deputy head of Bavaria’s spy agency told the BBC Thursday.

“We have to accept that we have hit squads and sleeper cells in Germany,” Manfred Hauser, the vice president of the Bavaria region’s intelligence gathering agency, BayLfV, told the Today program.

“We have substantial reports that among the refugees there are hit squads. There are hundreds of these reports, some from refugees themselves. We are still following up on these, and we haven’t investigated all of them fully,” said Hauser.
In other words, the risk incurred by the current policy is worth it. Just because we don't understand it, doesn't mean it's not a sound policy. We are just telling everybody now, so that as the attacks continue and/or intensify, fingers are not pointed in our direction, accusing us of missing it or whatever.

"Fewer Women Are Having Babies Than Ever Before"

"The percentage of females with infants is now the lowest in recorded U.S. history."
According to a CDC report today, the number of babies born per female in the U.S. is the lowest ever.

That rate is known as the national fertility rate (even though it measures reproduction, not the capacity for reproduction—fertility as it’s used colloquially). It has been tracked since 1909, and it has dropped more than 10 percent since 2007.

Beyond the social implications of this relative decline in baby production, it may be the best recent news for human health at a population level, as Earth is unsustainably full of humans. That’s tough to say without sounding “evil,” I’m told, but it’s a question of math. There is not enough space to house and feed everyone. Population growth has us on course for catastrophic famine and war that result from overpopulating a planet that is growing ever less habitable. (read more)

The surprising way restaurants discriminate against old people

Not a restaurant. These days, some don’t even have a phone, let alone a human being to field reservations.
At trendy Bergen Hill in Cooper Square, the number given by Zagat yields a recording saying the number is “temporarily disconnected.”
The recording for Dizengoff on Ninth Avenue says, “Hello, we are not available now.” And at Aska in Williamsburg comes the cheery (recorded) declaration, “This mailbox is not currently accepting messages.”

Life has gotten in the way of Christie Brinkley andJohn Mellencamp’s relationship, so they’ve called it quits after a year of dating.
A source told us that “it was the distance. He really didn’t like coming to New York and she was always on a plane going to his homes in Indiana and Daufuskie,” an island in South Carolina.
A spokeswoman for the former couple confirmed the split to Page Six, saying, “Both the mileage between their homes and their heavy career demands interfered with their ability to maintain the relationship. They vowed to remain best of friends.

Paul Ryan won big.....Some people think that is a great idea!

It is instructive to see who celebrates the reelection of Paul Ryan.

Paul Ryan is a traitor.

Not to Donald Trump. He does not owe Donald Trump anything. Of course he pretended to endorse him while undermining him every chance he gets. Because the essence of Paul Ryan and both the Rhino's and the conservative establishment is deceit.

Paul Ryan is a traitor to the American People. He supports unrestrained immigration to take the jobs of American workers. He supports the importation of unrestrained Muslim refugees who are placed in Middle America to rape children. He surrendered to the Democrats and Obama's budget without a fight. He refuses to even attempt to pass Katie's law to deport criminal illegal aliens. He refused to meet with the families of the victims of violence by illegal immigrants. He is an agent of the duopoly. He works hand in glove with the Democrats to pass the agenda of the lobbyists and crony capitalists which is directly in conflict with interests of the American People.

Donald Trump is just a passing moment in the political history of the United States. Just like Sarah Palin and the tea party before him. Both of them lost. Lost big. The same people celebrated their defeat. They same people go on the cable shows to laugh and scoff at the politicians who are fighting for the actual interests of the American people. So if Trump loses they will do the same thing. They will think they have "won" something. What they have done is tighten the screws on the pressure cooker.

I ask that you stop and think about what you are praising. Take Donald Trump out of the equation. Stop and think if these politicians and their programs are in the best interest of the people. I submit that they are not. They have not been for a long time. Something has to change.

Yesterday, Aug. 9, 2016

This followed another afternoon storm that approached from the west dramatically, showing the water it's dumping as it comes, the wind kicking up as it nears, cracks of thunder, lightning strikes out of frame, the sky darkening, and the whole thing petering out as it passes overhead leaving dry roofs and streets and clear sky for the night.

All media is in deep crisis and Trump is responsible

Trump's remarks yesterday when speaking about what will happen with the Supreme Court if he is not elected had the effect of shoving the entire media over the edge into irrationality, and that is world-wide media not just American national and local media. This is a blanket condemnation on all media. They always were nearly useless on covering political matters, now it's official, not a single one can be trusted to deliver objective facts about anything.

They are as toddlers tossing their toys and teething implements out of their cribs.

We all saw and heard the same rally. Admittedly, Trump's delivery is disjointed. He does skip back and forth between points of a subject as people do conversationally. That specific moment foremost he was talking about the makeup of the Supreme Court. This is familiar territory well internalized by everyone paying attention. Each point that Trump makes is stated at every rally, there is very little difference between them. Trump reiterates that 2A will be a thing of the past under Hillary Clinton, because of her obsession and because of the Supreme Court.  Trump reiterates the support he's received from NRA. There are several crucial points that Trump makes at each rally, he states them as they occur while he is speaking from outline, he will interject, "They backed me early. That's never happened before," then continue with his main points, there are key elements he tosses into the middle of larger points. His followers do not see this as confusing. It's not confusing. It's all quite easy to follow. It needn't be delivered in order. This is how people really do speak, asides, sprinkled in, however with Trump a bit excessively as if sprinkling salt with a Trump aside-shaker all over his speeches. It's spicy. It's entertaining. His crowd loves hearing the same points repeated rally to rally. They go there physically to hear it again, to be near the man making them.  This drives critics nuts because they prefer clean straightforward text point to point, so their outlines are provided them cleanly. Trump does not wander, but appears loath to complete a repeated thought without allowing intrusive side points. His crowd accepts all this as normal human speech. We really do speak to each other this way. His critics and detractors despise Trump's manner of speaking and claim it proof of an addled mind. It is no such thing. Trump actually speaks directly to people, he speaks to the crowds as if they are an individual person in the same living room being spoken to intimately.

The problem is they're imagining that viewers don't have eyes and ears of their own and are incapable of comprehending what they saw and heard for themselves. Their interpretation is useless. 100% useless. All of them, across the board. Worse than that, damaging. Not a single reporter is capable of getting it right. One after the other no matter who is speaking, no matter the network, no matter the channel, each reporter delivers the same ridiculous nonsense.

If the point is to train Trump to toe the media line and manner and express things just so to their liking, that misses entirely the reason of Trump's stupendous acceptance and his sudden and shocking rise in politics. It is this quality that propelled him. Reporters give Trump reason to continue in this manner, not shape up to their ways of processing.

Trump's crowd roars with approval when at each rally Trump points directly to the media in the back rows and calls them out specifically telling the crowd the media are all liars. The worst of the worst, the lowest of low. And outside of rallies, at his own home, Trump treats them as such, corralling them into a holding room, a pen provided with only a table of Trump branded water, then for the speech outside the room (pen) segregated from regular people, his people, and previously having them park their sloppy jalopies well away from his regular people with regular (spectacular) automobiles close in. Trump tells his crowd how they will mangle covering his events, and they all do so reliably and predictably.

Every news outlet, every single one, delivered the exact same spin allowing no other interpretation. Telling us the opposite of what we heard with our own ears.

Even the BBC reports flatly, and reports this to the world, "Donald Trump urged his second amendment supporters to murder Hillary Clinton." He did no such thing. Not by a long shot. This on the heretofore respected tax-supported British socialist news agency with worldwide reach. A flat lie delivered by a dope for any observer who watched the Wilmington N.Carolina rally in real time, available here. See for yourself if you like. The speech is short and sweet.

"Maybe the 2nd Amendment people can stop her" By showing up in force to vote, he is suggesting, not some gun crackpot working up the fury to kill her, you dopes! That is how you think and the opposite of how 2A people think. That's you projecting your own murder fantasies onto law abiding citizens. Again. At this late point the only people accepting this bizarre interpretation are already dead set against Trump for reasons of their own.

It's obnoxious. And now that obnoxiousness is standard, now every word out of Trump is held up for examination for its most dangerous possible interpretation. Now that impulse it taken to magnitudes of order beyond anything remote to objective reporting rendering the entire class of reporters 100% worthless. Now on any given matter regarding Trump listeners must just roll their eyes and dismiss every single word spit and sputtered from their stuttering mouths informed by their massively rattled minds. And worse than all that now, even conservative bloggers closer to home covering the same bogus story, and covering it as bogus are compelled to deliver their disclaimers before getting to their point so that readers must bear again more anti-Trump descriptors to get to that tiny nugget of insight that illuminates nothing at all.

Example: Roger Simon. I like Simon a lot and this is not disqualifying but it is typical.  I find him among the most sensible and level-headed of political bloggers. He wants to tell us the reason media despises Trump is because Trump is the candidate that threatens their position directly. Simon's point is that of all the things that Hillary says she will do, the Washington reporters dismiss with a wink. They know that she has no intention of following through with the programs that threaten the media's lofty position. Simon says that reporters go, "wink, wink " and give Hillary that pass but they cannot do that with Trump. They cannot read Trump, he's too unpredictable, he really can damage their position in society. So they despise him. But to get to that the reader must bear through Simon quoting someone else and their  description of Trump using the ragged descriptors already rejected by Trump supporters. The reader must see again:
demagogue
racist
nationalist
dictators
dangerous
nuclear codes

All that in the quoted inset. Then Simon's own descriptors.
loudmouth
blowhard
poor impulse control

Now referring back to others.
racist (again)
sexist
demagogue (again)

Jesus Christ! How many times must our eyeballs take in those same words? The first five paragraphs are 100% useless. They can be skipped without missing anything. They build up to the point. They repeat the same words already rejected by Trump supporters and most followers, rendering all that 100% annoyingly useless and now at a whole magnitude of annoyance. Writers cannot help themselves. They all follow this pattern of repeating and disclaiming, then finally some precious nugget that makes the entire effort not only just wasted but tremendously annoying and thoroughly damaging to their craft and their profession, such as it is.

Curating one's own input has become a tremendously unhappy task so that 100% shutdown until November  is the single solution. It is not possible to receive anything rational regarding politics across media. And comments to articles are even worse. They can provide source material and that's it. Anything that comes with additional words, any opinion attached to source material must be disregarded. Tossed teething toys not even wiped off and returned to the crib.

[I did learn a new phrase today that applies, "pigeon chess" but that new useful phrase was seen in comments to Smithsonian article about why T-Rex's arms are so short.]

"Honey" or "darling" to address women in US courts will now be penalized

NY TimesThe ethics rule now forbids comments or actions that single out someone on the basis of race, religion, sex, disability and other factors. Nearly two dozen state bars and the District of Columbia bar have similar rules. But there has been no national prohibition of such behavior, which, many female lawyers complain, results in too many “honeys,” “darlings” and other sexist remarks and gestures toward them while they are trying to practice their profession.

Without a flat prohibition, advocates of the rule said, using demeaning and misogynistic terms and actions to undermine opposing counsel and others too often does not have consequences.

Any penalties would be determined by state bar associations and might include fines or suspension from practice, depending on the severity of the offense. (read more)

Emails reveal an apperent Hillary pay-for-play scheme

NY Post:   In an April 2009 message to Abedin and Mills, Doug Band, who was overseeing the Clinton Foundation at the time, urgently asked for a meeting between a top US official and Gilbert Chagoury — a major donor to the Clinton family charity.

“We need to speak to the substance person re Lebanon. As you know, he’s [Chagoury] key guy there and to us and is loved in lebanon,” wrote Band, in a clear attempt to suck up to a big donor to the foundation.

“Its jeff feltman,” Abedin wrote back, referring to America’s former ambassador to Lebanon who went on to become assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs in August 2009.

“I’m sure he knows him. Ill talk to jeff,” said Abedin.

Less than 20 minutes later, Band replied, “Better if you call him. Now preferable. This is very important. He’s awake I’m sure.”

Chagoury is a Lebanese-Nigerian billionaire who gave the Clinton Foundation between $1 million and $5 million. In 2009, he also pledged $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative.

The construction magnate, a close pal of Bill Clinton’s, has financial interests around the world. He was convicted in Switzerland in 2000 of money laundering and paid a $66 million fine in a plea deal.

Abedin’s quick response to Band paid dividends down the road.

In June 2011, Band formed the Teneo consulting firm, with Bill Clinton as the paid honorary chairman. And in 2012, Abedin won permission to work as a $15,000-a-month consultant for Teneo in a special arrangement that allowed her to remain on the State Department payroll. (read more)

Have they identified Hillary's Medical Handler?

It appears that they might have identified Hillary's Medical Handler. He is a doctor:

Now this person has also been identified as a Secret Service agent named Todd Madison. As discussed in this post by Vox Day it is very unusual....no almost unprecedented that they identify an active agent in the protection detail by name. So it is most likely bullshit.

The whole controversy is addressed in this post of the Conservative Treehouse.

"Japanese 'naked restaurant' to ban overweight diners"

Following the lead of establishments in London and Melbourne, "The Amrita" -- Sanskrit for 'immortality' -- also has strict age restrictions, with only patrons between 18 and 60 allowed in, after they check in their clothes and put on paper underwear provided by the restaurant.

"If you are more than 15 kilograms (33 pounds) above the average weight for your height, we ask you refrain from making a reservation," a list of rules posted on the restaurant's website states, explaining that patrons could be weighed if they do not appear to be within the correct weight range.

Guests found to be "overweight" will be refused entry to the restaurant, which opens on July 29, and will not be entitled to a refund, its website points out. All payments must be made in advance on an online booking page. (read more)

Greetings, and good wishes

This is my theory about greetings and wishes that I've proven to myself repeatedly: anything that you contrive yourself no matter how awful is better than anything you can buy no matter how beautiful and creative or expensive because it comes directly from you without any intervening agency to put your thoughts and feelings into words or pictures or classy materials.

A birthday wish across Facebook is the worst of all possibilities. Any e-card available online, no matter how cute or well done, is second worst to that. Because both of those require no thought or no real feeling at all on the part of the sender, so they are void of anything personal,  an automated reminder and electronic response doesn't cut it. They're actually offensive, they prove the sender is not thinking at all. Not one bit.

I nearly missed my brothers birthday. No time to send anything hardcopy. This birthday greeting must be electronic. What a bummer.

c/p greeting and immediate response to it follows.

Donald's got a new game

Back there in the past Trump did have a new game in 1989. I did not know about this.

I'm spending a lot of time at YouTube by way of escape. Nevertheless quite a lot of political material is suggested for viewing. One such is "the real Donald Trump," a collection of clips from nearly thirty years ago where Trump is recorded on various shows, familiar to viewers in their younger forms, expressing a disinterest in politics while holding open the possibility of running for president, however remote, because even then he was already sickened by seeing the economic prospects of the U.S. diminish to the advantage of other nations due to American policies. This video is slathered with annotations, turned off to make the thing watchable, thirty minutes long, just one and a half minute in the younger version of Trump is interviewing with Matt Lauer, I think, when the success of his board game is mentioned in passing.

What?

Did he just now say board game? A distant and faded and unimportant and long dismissed memory is jostled. A board game is vaguely recalled. It must be something like Monopoly, I'm imagining.

You can buy one! If you are into that sort of thing. Presently there are about 75 search results on eBay, two different versions, or at least two different covers, along with a game called Republocrats, another called Waffling Willy, and another called The Apprentice, and yet another called Stratego, finally a card set called Hwatu, or Go Stop, or Gostop or Hwatoo Godori, ranging in price from $11.00 to $250.00.

The picture on the other Trump game version looks like this.

The video features Phil Hartman in various guises. Comments on YouTube are worthless restatements of preexisting prejudices to both "the Real Trump" video and to this board game commercial and that's all we'll be having for the next three months. Apparently everyone is expert on Trump, no new information can possibly inform them, while supposing their ossified solid views can well inform everyone else.

"Blacks-only classes at local college"

Campus Reform:  “While helping my son register for college at Moraine Valley Community College, we noticed that the required course College 101 has two sections limited to African-American students," one concerned parent told The Chicago Tribune. "He wants to know why there are not two sections limited to Asian-American students? How about Native American students?"

This segregation of students by race seems odd, especially considering the course’s emphasis on diversity.

“[College 101] provides an opportunity to assess your purpose for college, assess your study strategies, set college and career goals, examine your values and decision-making skills, and develop an appreciation for diversity,” the course catalog states.

But Jessica Crotty, Moraine’s assistant director of communications, made the case for segregation, saying the school periodically reserves certain course offerings for various demographics of students, including veterans.

“Sometimes we set aside sections for specific populations, including veterans and older students,” Crotty noted.

"The focus can be on specific issues they face," she explained. "For example, veterans face a specific set of challenges. Students feel comfortable and are more likely to open up because they're with other students who are like them."
