What is one thing that happens only in your country?

Reddit top voted comments....
Have a "World Series" and only occasionally invite Canada.
TV pickup. We have infrastructure specifically in place to cope with the entire country turning on 2000W kettles during the ad breaks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_pickup
Subway is sued because their "foot long" sandwiches are only 11 inches.
National Crate day! In NZ we have Crate day to celebrate the first day summer which is basically celebrated with a crate of local beer, a bbq and sports, usually at a mates flat or the beach.
Our constitutional court can rule that our president has broken the highest law of the land and stole tax payer money to make upgrades to his private home, and our parliament will still vote not to impeach him.
Every single building has a safe room in case rockets start falling. I was pretty surprised this wasn't a thing in other countries when I first learned about that.
I read about a country where tv remotes come with a football button.

Have you seen any video of Justin Trudeau in Canada? What a total fool. I can't believe they went from Stephen Harper to that. They will pay dearly for it.

And how.

The Blonde's favorite PM, Harper, that is.

If you remember his father, and I don't think you're old enough, you know the apple fell right through the knothole of the tree.

I desperately want to move to New Zealand. It's not easy. They have strict immigration rules.

What will you do there and why do you want to move there.

In the US, people commonly express distances in driving time, rather than number of miles/kilometers/whatever. ("It's about twenty minutes from here, on I-95.") Does this occur in other large countries?

This is the video I was looking for. Tell me you don't want to move there right now.

Beach bum. Shopping cart. The whole deal.

Newer Samsung TVs come with a futbol button. It changes screen and sound settings for a better soccer experience. Works for football, also.
YMMV

Oh, I lived that life in San Diego. I was a beach bum, homeless, living in his truck. Did that in my youth for a while. I worked, but all under the table. I'm still in San Diego, but my fortunes are vastly much better than when i was younger. However, that said, I'd love to go back to New Zeland. Haven't been there in a long long time.

Yeah, I want to go to New Zealand too and fly my drone around the beaches for awhile. And then I realized I can this in my own powered hand glider and I can that and lot more right here.

Yes, your sheep are lovely. We've got those things here too.

Yes, your mountains are stunning. We've got those here too.

Yes, your beaches are beautiful. Guess what? You hold the monopoly on those. Psych! We got those too.

New Zealand, new sea land. Where do you live? I live in New Sea Land.

What, did it just pop out of the sea recently? Yes, why yes, it did.

I went to a restaurant called the Zuiderzee in Englewood, named after some Dutch sea called Zuider or something, I had their gumbo and I must say it was awful and they deserve being run out of business. Their front was a windmill that you walked into, after the first time of that the thrill of the novelty of entering a fake windmill is gone. It only works once.

You only need to invest $650,000 to move to New Zealand. That's probably the price of a house there. You need $5 million to retire to Australia. New Zealand on Google street view
looks very inviting.

Since I am the granddaughter of Dutch immigrants, I will speak up in defence of two things the Dutch do in their country that no one else does as well:

1.Dutch Split Pea Soup

2. Reclaim land from the sea. For additional info check out more on the Zuiderzee, with this history, explaining the rise of Amsterdam, and the huge death totals from "rising seas":

During the early Middle Ages, rising sea levels and storms started to eat away at the coastal areas which consisted mainly of peatlands. In this period the inlet was referred to as the Almere, indicating it was still more of a lake, but the mouth and size of the inlet were much widened in the 12th century and especially after a disastrous flood in 1282 broke through the barrier dunes. The disaster marked the rise of Amsterdam on the southwestern end of the bay, since seagoing traffic of the Baltic trade could now visit. The even more massive St. Lucia's flood occurred 14 December 1287, when the seawalls broke during a storm, killing approximately 50,000 to 80,000 people in the fifth largest flood in recorded history. The name "Zuiderzee" came into general usage around this period.

The size of this inland sea remained largely stable from the 15th century onwards due to improvements in dikes, but when storms pushed North Sea water into the inlet, the Zuiderzee became a volatile cauldron of water, frequently resulting in flooding and the loss of ships. For example, on 18 November 1421, a seawall at the Zuiderzee dike broke, which flooded 72 villages and killed about 10,000 people. This was the Second St. Elizabeth's Flood.
