TMZ: Garry Shandling Dead at 66... (massive heart attack)

The 66-year-old star was not suffering from any illness ... as far as we know ... so, it appears this was sudden. A source connected to Shandling says he was healthy and speaking to people on Thursday morning.
Our source says there was a 911 call from "The Larry Sanders Show" star's home, and he was transported to the hospital. We're told Shandling was alive when he arrived at the hospital.

He was a genuinely funny man. He will be missed.

Man, seems like they're dropping like flies and 66 isn't really that old anymore.

I remember we didn't have HBO and I wanted to see that show.

He had a free tv show too, but it was short lived.

Watch his episode of CiCGC and you will hear Garry and Jerry discussing that very fact - you have to die in your 60s, he says, for people to say "And he was so young!"

RIP Mr. Shandling. Big fan.

One of the museums/archives of American television did a series of interviews with him.

I've watched most of them. I recommend them for his fans.

If I was Kanye I wouldn't wait for the GOP convention, I'd go make a deal with Mitt right now.

The guy went through life with that pained constipated look on his puss.

My first thought was -- Yay Yay, I outlived you, Shandling, Yay Yay.

Not a nice thought perhaps but at least an honest one.

ricpic you have also outlived everyone else who died today. So far.

Sixty, Ditto. Smart and funny, like Seinfeld. The Larry Sanders Show was cutting edge. He and Hank and Rip Torn were perfect chemistry.

Hartman was wonderful also. I'm curious what Jerry was about to say when the clip got cut off.

The video is available. Someone took the Hartman bit and made a separate video out of it.

I enjoyed his show, and I'm sorry he died. That said, I hadn't thought about him in years so his death won't leave a gaping hole in my life.......He died relatively young. If I were rich and famous, I would want to live past ninety.

Never heard of him.

You got to be kidding. I know you must have.

If you receive Antenna TV they are rerunning the Johnny Carson Tonight shows from 1972 to his retirement. Friday (3/25) they are showing Shandling's first appearance on the show.

Peter Brown, who played in Lawman and Laredo also died the other day.

So did The White Shadow, Ken Howard.
