Clinton to Matthews: "We didn't lose a single person" in Libya

Excerpt:

"Hillary Clinton on Monday defended the intervention in Libya that she championed as secretary of state, telling MSNBC's Chris Matthews that the United States "didn't lose a single person."

“Libya was a different kind of calculation. And we didn't lose a single person. We didn't have a problem in supporting our European and Arab allies in working with NATO,” the former secretary of state said during an MSNBC town hall on Monday night.

Clinton may have been referring strictly to the U.S.-backed overthrow of Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi in 2011, which indeed saw no loss of American lives and cost just around $1 billion. But her comments ignore the 2012 attacks at the U.S. mission and CIA outpost in Benghazi, which killed four people including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens."

In Clinton doublespeak, we didn't lose a "single person" ... since FOUR people died.

Amartel said...

Calypso, we only lost non-persons in Libya.

She was only off by four people.

Those guys were all married!
(They weren't "single.")

We knew where those guys were the whole time, we didn't "lose" them!

Those guys were all Republicans!

Right on, CF.

I supposed that could be a true statement..

Literally, She and Obama lost more than a single person. There were many who were killed AND injured.

Literally.....

Libyans don't count.

Did anyone ask Rodham the big picture significance of deposing Gaddafi and handing the country to Al Qaeda? Here's the significance: Libya is now the staging ground for the invasion of Europe by Muslim Jihadists and Africans. In other words a catastrophe for the West. And Hillary skates away untouched? She's as much an angel of death as Hussein. But since the so-called reporters asking the questions belong to the same death cult she does.....

Cognitive Dissonance on display. Literally. She has literally mind wiped herself into believing this.

This is a perfect example of the media double standard. Of course the cuckservative media at FOX will not hammer her and the lapdog media will stuff this down the memory hole.

Our Republican candidates have to have the balls to take this and use it as a club to beat her down. To include it with her lying to the families of the fallen. To link it to the original decision to not even try to save them. That is what has to be an issue.

It'll be fun watching Trump take Hillary down in the general election campaign. We already got a glimpse into some of that a couple of months ago after she called Trump "sexist," to which he responded, "YOU are calling ME sexist?", in the context of how Hillary went after Bill's victim accusers personally, attacking them as part of the bimbo eruptions unit. More than any other person running on either side, I'm betting Trump is most ready for Hillary.

Good news is the ads write themselves.

Ty Woods' father, Glen Doherty's sister, and Chris Stevens' and Sean Smith's mothers, have shown no reluctance to speak out.

Trooper York said...

That's the thing. Trump is the only one who would go there. Cruz is too high minded. Kasich agrees with her. Rubio is a pussy who doesn't have the balls.

Trump is the only one who can beat her. Trump has negatives. A lot of negatives. But Hillary has even more.

Give him time. He working really hard at it. In the race to alienate he is truly the only one who can beat Hillary.

Krauthammer made a good observation tonight...with Sanders staying in, and giving her a run for her money, she will be worn out going into the general.

edutcher said...

Excellent point.

BTW, one thing to remember about those OH polls is that it's a wide open primary - you go in, show ID, they ask which ballot you want, and that's it.

When was the last time Trump killed anybody in Labia?

Wishful thinking notwithstanding, Hillary is so disliked in her own party Bernie Sanders is giving her fits.

And remember, the more people see of her, the less they like her.

For all the grief Rick Lazio took for daring to enter her personal space he should have mashed a grapefruit in her lying screaching mug.

Now that's a funny typo Ed. It is a typo, right? Otherwise you have some real inside info, so to speak.

I got that from Troop IIRC.

Even better: KKK grand dragon endorses Hillary Clinton for president

This place has become Trump Troll Village. Damn shame.

deborah said...

Nick, it's an election year. During 2008 I was a lurker at Althouse, and on the board I mainly posted at it got ugly. Those against Obama were 'racist.' That election makes me think of the line from Josey Wales: I guess we all died a little in that damn war.

Trooper York said...

I know. Just Trump trolls.

Hey maybe we can do some cop bashing threads. That would be way cool.

deborah said...

Disclaimer, I wasn't endorsing Nick's troll estimation. I was saying elections really get people dialed up.

ndspinelli said...

deborah, I can abide being "really dialed up" legitimately. These are middle finger, contrived, bully, asshole trolls. One of them might even be paid troll, or just auditioning for another reality show, seeking that weird "fame" that comes w/ that genre.

deborah said...

Who would pay to someone to troll in this backwater? Not much of an audience. FWiW I think Trooper lays on the showmanship, but that is who he is.

My main point, Nick, is that you two should think carefully about losing a friendship over a crappy election.

Amartel said...

Nick,
Hang in there. It's just politics. In the long run, all of us will be proved wrong at some point. At least drop in now and then and test the waters in a non-political thread.

Chris Matthews (aka Tweety Lickspittle) is almost as execrable as the Clintons. He's like a less competent version of them.

His wife is running for office in Maryland with all the same donors as Clinton. You can bet your bottom dollar his ass is biased in any coverage of her or whoever opposes her.

I don't get it. Why don't we just elect the CEO of Goldman Sachs to be president? Why does everything have to be a fucking shell game? Just bring the agenda against America out in the open.

Deborah and Amartel, You are 2 people that keep me here. I'm not some reality TV drama guy. I did not say I was leaving. I have never said I was leaving any blog, even TOP. I see how Reality TV has fundamentally changed our culture. I have friends and family who watch that fucking drivel. I see how it changes their behavior, almost like they're auditioning for a show. They verbalize every thought and feeling. They create horseshit drama. These are people who were not like that before there was a writers strike and network suits started this insane genre. Our resident Reality TV guy like to try and make it a class thing, a political thing. If you don't like McDonald's or Reality TV you're an elitist. I would venture a guess, based on the stupid Reality TV posts over the years, that got zero comments, that less than 10% of the people here watch that horseshit. Well trying to make it a class thing..that's very Reality TV creating drama like. This is about much more than politics. Much more. And it ain't politics or class @ the root of this conflict.

Those housewives are a societal menace. The Kardashians, too. They lower expectations about behavior standards and raise expectations about entitlement. Trash, trash, trash 24/7. I do watch some tv, including occasionally Survivor which is a reality show. I don't judge or care how much tv people watch but, personally find it better for my brain and mental well being to keep the tv watching to a minimum. For Nick I would recommend "Better Call Saul." It's a pretty accurate depiction of civil litigation and lawyers in general.

deborah said...

Thanks for clarifying, Nick.

deborah said...

Add to that, Saul is a doll, meaning he has a super-good heart. If you're not familiar, Nick, Better Call Saul is a Breaking Bad spin-off. He's now in the witness protection program, drearily managing a Cinnabon shop. The show is about him remembering earlier days, pre-Breaking Bad, that lead him to the present.
