"Zimbabwe park warns it may shoot 200 ‘surplus’ lions now that big game hunters are staying home"

National Post: The outcry over Walter Palmer’s killing of Cecil drove other big-game hunters away from Zimbabwe, fearful they too would attract the ire of the public.  But in what is being described as a side effect of the affair, Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife area says it now finds itself suffering from an overpopulation of lions.

Bubye Valley Conservancy has more than 500 lions, the largest number in Zimbabwe’s diminishing wildlife areas.  It has warned that its lion population has become unsustainable and that it may even have to cull around 200 as a result of what is being called “the Cecil effect.”

Unintended consequences of the SJW outcriers is one hell of a bitch. But I wonder why zoologists or anyone related to conservancy hasn't spoken out about this? I haven't heard a word from any of these people on the rightness or wrongness of this type of conservancy.

Sounds like the Rhodesian Army-Navy Store.

I would suggest that the social justice whiners organize a communal hitchhike through the BuhBye Valley, break bread with the inhabitants and celebrate the minor diversities in search of greater similarities. Hey, we're all carnivores here!

No wait, wait, wait, wait…

No wait, are you trying to tell me that man has dominion over all the animals of the Earth? Processing…

Wait, wait, wait, you're telling me the creatures of the jungle and savanna and the oceans and the air exist by the grace of man?

Are you telling me evolution has stopped? When did that happen? How did it start? This whole thing is sounding exactly like Tom Wolf. And he's a snarky elitist, Yalie, he'll have you know regularly, with seriously encoded class issues. And this whole lion thing and elephant thing and rhinoceros thing and whales on beaches thing, together are making Tom Wolf sound about right.

But it's damned hard to find a real Christian these days. Lions won't touch one those low calorie, gluten free, Unitarian type Christians, even if you marinate them for hours. They'd rather eat tofu, and who can blame them?

We need to get some reporters to the people who were so loud and adamant with their protests and harassment. We need to have them confronted with the outcome of their unthinking emotional standards and motivations, and ask them how they feel about starving hundreds of lions and killing all the tender cuddly animals they feed on just so they could rub their emotion organ in front of us all.

I can't remember what I said, so I hope I wasn't one of them.

This is bullshit. Release them into the wild, sell them to other preserves or use their "plight" to start a fund to purchase additional preserved land into which to release and house and maintain them.

Releasing lions into preserves alone will be giving them a death sentence. Lions have prides, and stray lions entering their space will sign their death warrant.

"Release them into the wild"

I'm down with that. Which major Democrat run city do you suggest?

Still fighting those ghosts, eh Bags?

You really have quite the past to get over. Surely you can afford rehab or a good shrink.

Trolling me in place of that is rather pathetic, given everything.

If there are hundreds of "extra lions" then there is no danger of single male lions or troops of them taking down a pride or a bunch of prides. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to move several of the prides all together, males included.

Detroit of course.

That's the kind of thinking that will definitely win the popular vote.

The mark of a party with a serious sense of purpose.
