Trump wins South Carolina

Trump won by a lot but the gap is closing. Rubio just ahead of Cruz this time.

Bush bows out in one of the classiest performances to be seen of the season. Reminding me that whatever and all else I don't care for about them, they really are a graceful patrician family.

Mickey Kaus says on Twitter that he doesn't like watching videos, they take too many seconds. But whatever we think of Trump, this one is pretty powerful.

He links to Maxine Runner's upload of two minute Trump ad that begins with Beck lauding Trump and runs through campaign images time-lapse style except a lot more jolting.  And it is powerful.

I hope you can see this video of Trump's ad here. If it's the sort of thing that you like.

Powerful as it is, my mind still wandered. I was thinking, those baseboards sure are clean. I used dishwasher soap to make the water slippery and you should have seen the dirt that came up. Oi. Now they shine. I got all the way around the spots that never get touched even to the end through the laundry where lint collects in there. Just thinking that took a minute and by then the video had ended. But it sure sounded powerful.

The polls were off and the endorsements, especially from Nikki Haley, helped Marcomentum, but how many times can he pull that out?

The real issue is, Trump keeps winning and Cruz is third again. A lot of people may not like it, but singing, "Shut up and deal", doesn't do Cruz much good.

And Ben Shapiro has an interesting take on Rubio.

Yes, the Bush were always good losers. But 2 Presidents with the last name Bush were enough.

In fact, two too many for my taste. But that is irrelevant.

The key thing is we have a chance to get elect someone who has a hot wife and daughter.

Its all about Optics.

Bush wasted around $150M -- for what? Can you think of a better use?

He may be from a "fine patrician family" but they represent other values as well.

"Common core" was Bushism through and through. My kids (and their teachers) were united in their disdain for the meddling.

Had they stuck with the "3 R's" there would have been less opposition. But common core came to represent PC values which if you think about it is very Bush.

These days there's no excuse for a two minute commercial.

Absolutely, but it was not my money. It was given freely by others, and they paid dearly for the lesson. Live by the crony - die by the crony.

I sure had fun with people today.

Three separate and quite playful conversations with women. Good Lordy, you should see me flirt.

You might find this difficult to believe but I can pull off being quite thick.

It works for me. I ask incredibly stupid questions. And as they're processing, how is it anyone can be so stupid I dig further to allow that yes, I am full on retard, have fun with it. It's not a tactic, it's authentic behavior and it works very well because they want to step in and fix me.

I was pressed uncomfortably with two stylish black women considerably shorter than myself and about the same weight. "Look at your little bitty shoes." They both cannot believe I just blurted that out to two strangers. I dug deeper, "They're Cinderella shoes!" This appealed to their humor tremendously and to the woman's conceit. I hit just the right specific thing about her that she likes about herself. The shorter younger woman with regular size feet laughed enjoyably at attention drawn to the other woman's feet. "I don't even know how you stand up." Me with two canes, so four points on the floor to her tiny two. It really is funny. She really does have tiny feet. The situation amusing and the whole rest of the thing were those two laughing about her tiny Chinese bound feet. They are adorable. And she has very nice shoes too.

That was one.

Trump has an extraordinarily good looking family. They make the Romney family like a bunch of Walmart shoppers. They're not really patrician like the Bush family, but they've got far more glamour......Chelsea is over thirty and in public life. Are we finally allowed to say that she's homely? There will be unspoken, unconscious, and unfair comparisons made between her and Ivanka. Chelsea's life is gong to suck.

A kind and generous remark about the Bush family. Whatever the failings of W, and he had a few, we could still be trying to get over Al Gore now.

Yep, Trump's on a roll.

I thought America was all about escaping from under the thumb of those mahvelous patricians? But I guess not. Snobbery never dies.

Regarding Bush's withdrawal speech.

I'm a big observer of body language. I learned this in an early sales training course where we were taught to not just listen to the client but to watch what they do. In addition we spent a lot of time videoing ourselves doing sales presentations and were made acutely aware of our own body language and physical tics. After the video the entire class would critque our presentation and pounce on each and every distracting thing we did, or praise the positives. From how you stood, what you did with your hands and even your tone of voice.

So....this election has been a body language bonanza for someone who studies this. Turn off the sound and watch each of the candidates. Observe the stilted and rehearsed acts from Cruz, Bush and Rubio. Hillary is the epitome of bad body language with her inhuman rehearsed hand gestures and robotic body language. Compared to Trump whose gestures are natural and his connection with the crowd is visible in his eyes and the way he interacts. Cruz is ultra rehearsed and while he sounds good, without the sounds he is just lecturing and not really connecting.

It is a fascinating thing to watch and when you see it, you understand why some people connect with the crowd on a gut level and others come across as stilted or even disdainful of the people. As if they are being forced to be in a place where it is obvious that they would rather be anywhere else. Hillary and Obama both have that body language....although Obama does have more natural hand gestures when he isn't reading from a teleprompter and using the trained glancing at the crowd from left to right as if watching a tennis match.

So.....observing Bush last night I notice. He can't make his speech from the heart, although I also see the emotion in his eyes. He had to read from cards and used the tennis match mode.

I believe the main reason that Bush did not connect with the people was his body language. Look, he is slumped over at the shoulders signalling defeat. Watch him hold up his hands in front of him in a palms up pleading gesture. Weakness again. Tentative hand gestures. Rehearsed to the nth degree and it shows. Body language doesn't lie. Lips do.

Don't listen for a while. Just look.

Very interesting, DBQ. How does Bernie's body language come across?

Dust Bunny Queen said...

I haven't observed him very much, but from what I see he is genuine. Natural gesturing. Good eye contact. Legitimate smiles. Anger seems to be real as well instead of a rehearsed feature, although he doesn't express it verbally often. I believe that he means what he says and that he genuinely likes people. Whereas, it is painfully obvious that Hillary does not like people. Just watch her.

That doesn't mean that I agree with what he says but I believe that he believes what he says.

Here is a link that gives more detail into body language and business. Take a look. It isn't always cut and dried, as to what the motions and stances mean, but it is when taken as a group of actions and a pattern of body language very instructive.

http://www.businessballs.com/body-language.htm#body-language-analysis

This study that I attended in the course of one of my earlier jobs was probably the most valuable things I have ever done. It has helped me immeasurably in my life, not just in my work. Only a very very talented actor can fake the body language all the time and I don't think we should want that type of person to be in charge of our lives.

Watching without the sound and observing how people act is very revealing.

Trump is old. A president Trump could easily die in office. His vp pick becomes a huge decision. It would have to be someone young who could unite and lead the country.

Rubio.

Rubio's extraordinarily good looking family is even more extraordinarily good looking than Trump's extraordinarily good looking family.

Have you forgotten "Meade's Rule" of no more Presidents with young children?

Meade said...

Didn't know it's called "meade's rule" but no, that is correct. One more reason to vote against Trump.

You wanna see Hillary at her phoniest, check out these clips of her insisting to the New York audience in her senatorial run of her stance on gay marriage. Especially 0:34.

Watch how broad that smile is as she lies so glibly and nods. Absolutely chilling how practiced and comfortable she is with making sure there is no truth to even speak.

Thanks for the links, DBQ, and R&B. I'll bet Hillary's body language tells a different story when she has somebody cornered in her office who got on her bad side.
