Obama's EPA knew about led in the water in April

The Hill: The head of the EPA’s region that includes Michigan told the Detroit News that her agency warned state officials of possible corrosion problems in April. The state did not take action at the time, nor did EPA.

Those problems have now turned to an all-out emergency, since the corrosiveness of the drinking water has caused lead from pipes to leach into the water, making it harmful to drink.

Marc Edwards, a Virginia Tech researcher who helped uncover the lead problem and documentation about the EPA’s role, said the federal agency’s response was unacceptable. “At that point, you do not just have smoke, you have a three-alarm fire and should respond immediately,” he told the News.

Just so long as our bureaucrats are being paid well, that's all I care about. Plus, Hillary and Bernie want more government staff on the tax payer pay roll, with lower expectations that these government employees can actually perform any actual competent duties. Paid leave is more important. Now that our colleges are nanny state leftwing day care centers-- you understand.

We must pay people, collectively, to do nothing. That's forward thinking.

You can led a horse to water....but you can't make it drunk.

What harm would lead in the water do in Detroit, they probably thought.

In my decades long dealings with the EPA, I saw SJWs with little or no scientific or technical understanding. They implement unreplicated studies which stick it to those nasty capitalists. Give them a problem which has no capitalist bad guy and they know not what to do. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

Whatever happens, I do know one thing for certain:

Republican governor Rick Snyder did absolutely nothing wrong.

You know what, Balls, as governor, he may very well be to blame. Or partly to blame.

so? does that get the EPA off the hook?

What? Zeppelin went swimming? I had no idea there was a regulation for that, but I'm not surprised.

Why wasn't the Flint water department operating their system in a manner that included adjusting the pH level of the water during the filtration/putrefaction process? That's what EVERY municipality with a water department does. This is simple stuff; the adding of basic chemicals to the water.

Lead won't leach out of old pipes if the water isn't corrosive.

Officials in Flint screwed this up. Now officials in other places will blame it on political parties rather than solving the damn problem.

DOH!! Purification not putrefaction! Stupid autocorrect.

If you were Chip, you'd call it Plumbum.

This will be a long, long protracted story. Michael Moore will make a film out of it, I'm sure.

The potential liability could possibly bankrupt MI, and will ultimately have to be paid by the Feds. This is why all the finger pointing and blame. There are three layers of culpability here: local, state and Federal. Local and federal will try to squeeze the state for Snyder's scalp, thereby politicizing the whole thing. That is how power is projected these days.

I thought "titrate" is something Trooper did for a living. If note "rate" then at least "quantify." Or am I getting him confused with Titus?

No, I wouldn't suppose the EPA should be let off the hook, either.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Is there a Pb sinker on that hook?

Perhaps he did something wrong and perhaps he didn't. But Rodham's loathsome decision to single him out didn't help anyone.

Snyder deserves to be singled out. Like a Russian dictator, he pushed through a bill that effectively cancels the people's democratic decisions to elect their own municipal representation if he feels that he can run their cities better. Flint is one of those cities that was probably "depressed" enough for him to feel that he could do a better job of running it all by himself from the state capital. HRC does nothing wrong in pointing out the share of the blame that I'm sure he's feeling himself. Unless you can disprove me, I have a damn good feeling that this is a reckoning for his "I, the governor know best" policy of how his state's municipalities are to be run. I bet you didn't even know about this whole issue.

And he just never stops. The guy is a total Putin.

what do wage and benefit packages have to do with the water supply, and maintaining a proper PH?

Sorry Balls - you looooze.

Someone didn't get enough time off - that's why the PH was screwy!

Rule of Democrats:

1. Create crisis.
2. Blame Republicans.
3. Call for more spending to correct crisis.
4. Fail entirely to correct crisis.
5. Continue to blame Republicans.
6. Wipe bloated ass with OPM.

P.S. You're horrible.
