"A decade into a project to digitize U.S. immigration forms, just 1 is online"

Your tax dollars at work... or something.
Heaving under mountains of paperwork, the government has spent more than $1 billion trying to replace its antiquated approach to managing immigration with a system of digitized records, online applications and a full suite of nearly 100 electronic forms.
A decade in, all that officials have to show for the effort is a single form that’s now available for online applications and a single type of fee that immigrants pay electronically. The 94 other forms can be filed only with paper.
This project, run by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, was originally supposed to cost a half-billion dollars and be finished in 2013. Instead, it’s now projected to reach up to $3.1 billion and be done nearly four years from now, putting in jeopardy efforts to overhaul the nation’s immigration policies, handle immigrants already seeking citizenship and detect national security threats, according to documents and interviews with former and current federal officials. By the way. Did Obamacare include a provision for digitizing medical records? I seem to have a vague recollection of that.

If simple immigration forms is costing billions, I'd imagine digitizing medical records could run into the trillions.

We pay government employees lavishly and they do jack for us.

Then we are guilted and manipulated by democrats into assuming we just don't pay high enough taxes.

We need to hike taxes so these lavishly paid government computer code writers can have a new suite of 100 billion dollar furniture. Then they will comfy enough to produce for us!

Meanwhile - mom and pop shops are closing. Sanders and Hillary approve.

One of the early excuses for not having enough security in Benghazi was a lack of funds.

Unbelievable.

It's just another reason why Washington, DC is in a wealth bubble the likes of which we've never seen before. Lot's of pay for little work.

What time do we tee off today?

Take a look at where $5 trillion dollars gets funneled to and you'll see why the shit that happens like this does. All the time. And no one cares. They are swimming in our money and they don't give a shit because if you don't pay, they send their goons against you to make sure you pay. The 16th Amendment created the federal mafia. Enjoy.

Yes, medical records are now digitized. At the eye doctor, the tech who does the vision test went over my history and had at her fingertips all of my current meds and mentioned them before I did. It's nice to know a motor mouth who unprofessionally went on about her personal life has access to my private records.

Does the gov actually do anything that is helpful to Joe Citizen? (Other than the military.)
Doesn't build or maintain infrastructure efficiently.
Doesn't discourage crime. Caught recently actively encouraging crime.
Doesn't protect the environment. Makes it worse.
Is good at taking your money. Not so hot on giving it back or doing anything useful with it.
And that's just the enumerated powers.
Don't even get me started on the new stuff it has taken on on its own initiative.

Ever notice that government computers all seem to operate on some sort of Hoyt-Clagwell OS?

In Chicago, Tiny Ballerina Emmanuel has proposed a half billion dollar property tax increase, stating that homes valued at less than 250 thousand would be exempt.

"OH NO." claims Cook County board president, "We don't have software to distinguish between city and suburbs., Can't be done." Yeah apparently the software can't distinguish zip codes.
