Lunch Box

This was my lunch box when I was a kid. I not only had the lunch box. I had the whole rig. The rifle. The hat. The whole migilla.

If a kid brought this lunchbox to school he would get arrested. Let alone what was in it. Maybe a meatball sub, a bottle of Yohoo and a couple of Yodels. The food police would give you the death penalty.

I lost the lunch box some time ago but when I was walking past the little antiques store on the corner I saw another one. So I bought it.

I bring it to the store every day for lunch.

I had a "Rat Patrol" lunch box. Machine guns mounted on jeeps blowing up Gerries...I don't think so these days.

You really were a "Brownstone Cowboy" Troop.

I had the original Davy Crockett - fighting Indians, killing grizzlies.

I mean shooting stuff with Old Betsy.

Too bad it din't have the Alamo on it.

2 minorities, an endangered species, firearms.

What made America great.

PS Troop, There's a commenter called Wagon Weal elsewhere.

Ever get crossways of him 'cause he sure doesn't like you.

Meade has a lot of sock puppets. I don't worry too much ed. Life is too short.

For the life of me, I can't remember what lunch box I had in the early grades. I do remember that when an option of having a hot lunch, I (ok maybe my mom) went for the hot lunch.

I do remember when I got my first job, I had a black lunch box, with the little thermos on the top. I carried that until the large corporation that I worked for, hired an outside outfit to provide hot meals at work. Couldn't pass it up.

When you are a kid your lunch box was a big thing. There was a competition. I don't know what kids do today. There are so many stories about the teachers confiscating "unacceptable" food that I think I would have been arrested for the contents of my lunch box.

I have a feeling the Bonanza boys ate a lot of quiche and arugula.

Ben, Adam, and Hoss, certainly.

Little Joe, I'm not so sure.

Every kid's lunch box was destined to get a dent or two, but God help you when you got home if that glass liner in the thermos got broken.

That happened all the time.

I went through the colonel, Roy Rogers (a couple times), can't remember all of them.

Rumor has it that Ben Cartwright actually had 4 more sons, but one night Hoss felt a bit peckish....well, you can guess the rest.

The "Wild Wild West" was a great show. I'm surprised that Troop never spoofed it.

You kids in the big cities were rich. We never got TV show lunch boxes. I had a plain Red plaid one.

My mom always gave us sandwiches made from leftovers - chicken, roast beef, etc. We go a lot of Jello too. I don't think they sell that stuff anymore.

The Wild Wild West spoofed itself.
