"CDC: 1 in 5 American adults live with a disability"

"The study, drawn from 2013 data, says 53 million Americans have a disability."
“We know disability types and related challenges can vary,” said Elizabeth Courtney-Long, a health scientist with CDC’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities. “In order to understand and address their needs, we need to understand their diverse circumstances. This report provides a snapshot into that.”

The researchers defined a disability as a self-reported difficulty in one or more of five areas: vision, cognition, mobility, self-care or independent living.

I can only assume that this 1 in 5 Americans are "Disabled" study is the result of our Be The Biggest Victim contest society.

As a super healthy (I could be healthier...) young man, I live with a physical handicap. Like I wrote on my NJFID application - prescription glasses correct my vision.

Too many people assume us four eyed geeks are totally capable. Little do they realize that without our wonderful corrective lenses, we would be very handicapped.

My vision's not so bad I can't drive without glasses- but I can't read the road signs. Hooray for shapes and colors.

It's worse than that. Clearly, half the voting adults are mentally retarded.

I think it's safe to say that 100% of all Americans live with the disability that the will of government impugns on us all.

"self-reported difficulty"

So, it's like all the people who have crippled parking tags on their cars.

I see that they did not include addiction among the listed disabilities. From my own perspective, this is a gross injustice to those of us who suffer from uncontrollable dependencies.

I fought against my weakness for years and until recently thought that I had won the war. But while you may win a battle and buy time, you never win the war. The monkey has returned and he rides my back unmercifully.

I am speaking, of course, of jalapenos. I dream of jalapenos. I lust for jalapenos. Jalapenos in soup, jalapenos in salads, jalapenos on sandwiches, always jalapenos, sometimes straight, uncut, pharmaceutical grade jalapenos when I binge. Some say that it is only a psychological need but I know better. I must have them, my body demands it.

It is fully my responsibility, I understand that. But I would be remiss if I did not place some blame on the pusher who reignited my hunger. This man, who calls himself Chip Ahoy (as if we are to believe that is his real name, hah), with his irresistible images of luscious jalapenos paired with salmon, with burgers, with Tex-Mex, with - I must stop before I lose control. Gaia damn the pusher man.

And I know that the habaneros are out there. Just waiting for a moment of weakness. Then will come the fall.

Years ago a guy at my company went on disability, bad back I think. He shows up a few weeks later on a local dance show shake, shake, shaking his booty. Fired the next day.

The people on disability should be required to prove it yearly. The government should also offer a bounty to catch cheaters.

This "disability" culture has been my business, videotaping frauds on the dole. I've been working a lot lately. I have been working FMLA fraud. That's right, the nascent entitlement program given to us by Clinton is being abused. Shocking. I actually knew nothing of this new scam until lately. It's KILLING businesses!

amper, Private business, insurance companies combat fraud. The govt. encourages it. It's not their money..IT'S OURS and for them it grows on fucking trees.

Hey, nd. How is that worth an investigation? It's 12 weeks unpaid (but with continuing Medical benefits). Hardly seems worth the cost of policing it - unless you work cheap!!!

When Obama gives us paid sick leave you should be in high cotton.

53 times 5 is 265.

53 times 6 is 318.

There are 350 people in America.

I "meant" M as in "million" people, but as Freud taught, and there's a reason people remember and will continue to remember Freud, if only Goldstein (Emmanuel) to escape their Leftist mindsent via the indulgence of it, the fact is I typed 350 without the M and that sucks.

I am sorry.

Reckless wantonness is my business; booms made me deaf recently.
