Smear the queer

The photograph used at the Beast makes Carl DeMaio look quite cross.

Because he is.

Seven months ago DeMaio conceded to Scott Peters (D, CA) ending a nasty campaign filled with recriminations in a tight race. Last week a former aid to DeMaio, Todd Bosnich, pled guilty to obstructing justice and admitted to contriving emails he used supporting his claim that DeMaio sexually harassed him.

DeMaio said conservative voters were willing to overlook the fact he was gay, if there wasn’t an “ick factor,” which is why, he said, one was created.

There were other accusations as well. The Beast goes into the sordid story of a break in, the files turning up in the hands of his opponents, cohorts in the accusations and the rest.
“The challenge of being a gay Republican, not supported by the gay community, they don’t like the fact that you are Republican,” he said. “That’s the ultimate betrayal, is being a Republican.”
“If I were a gay Democrat and a Republican tried doing what Scott Peters did to me, there would be rioting in the streets in the middle of the election,” he said. “But it’s ok to do it to a Republican because, you know, we really don’t want you to break through that glass ceiling. And so that was very challenging.”

I saw/heard DeMaio on television a few times while he was campaigning. I think it was FNC; I don't think another net would allow him to be interviewed. My reaction was that DeMaio is a very smart guy, likable, conservative, and electable. I also thought "the libs are gonna kill this guy" one way or another because a gay conservative getting elected cannot be tolerated.

Sure enough, they did. The borg will not allow independent thinking.

Rioting in the streets isn't so bad as long as it's not flaming rioting in the streets.

It's like a gay parade. Can't they tone it down?

Dems get in a race and they are in it to win it. Too bad Repubs don't. There is no pride or rules guiding their actions because the media won't point it out until after the election [if then] but they do if a Repub crosses the line.

This should be a bigger scandal. It will be reported, but the megaphones will be turned down. There will be no jokes about it by the late night comedians or Jon Stewart, and it will not seep into the larger public consciousness.........Who knows that the Rev. Jones of the Jonestown Massacre was a supporter of progressive causes and that Angela Davis was his ardent supporter?......There was a pool party in. Atlanta over the weekend. A fight broke out. A young black man was shot and killed. Do you think his murder will provoke anywhere near the publicity and outrage that that other pool party inspired?

This has been a continuing story in San Diego. The San Diego paper is fairly conservative and has done some good reporting on this. It is a travesty. But, liberals have a hypocrisy invisible shield.

I know Carl DeMaio personally and he's smart, tough, and a conservative and has brought shit out on the San Diego City Council for years. He's made some enemies for sure, but Scott Peters and his cadre are exceptional scumbags. Oh, smear the queer is the daily plan for the velvet mafia in San Diego. They are especially militant here. However, DeMaio has his own talk radio show now in the city, so he's got an even bigger megaphone than before.

The comments at the Daily Beast are exactly like you'd expect. Basically along the lines of "he had it coming", etc. Another example of the Left having no principles, i.e., the ends justify the means.
