A-Basin closed for the season over the weekend. Not a record, I'm sure, but a bit unusual. We had a mild/average snow pack winter. Much of the snow came in April and May this year.

Nobody at A-Basin, but boy, were they ever having a great time for free on Loveland pass. They were sliding on boards and skiing both sides. You hike up, of course, but you get a very long ride. A wonderful day up there at tippy top. It's been a long time since I've been up there. Everyone I'm with always insists on the tunnel. Going over was a good decision.
We must find a Family Circus route that avoids Eastbound 1-70 on Sunday. Construction in the pinch before Idaho Springs made things much worse. The frontage road backs up too. Traffic from I-40 adds on.
In the vehicle Joe took a call and hearing one side I could tell who he was talking to, these people who I hardly ever see, maybe once or twice a year. Nobody could have possibly demanded such detailed road-realted and river and creek-related and direction-related inside the mountains questions except one single person, so I guessed, ding, score.
And I'm all, "get the f off the phone"
These thumbnails don't do justice. I shrank them to 1400 width, quite wide, and even that felt terrible.

Those are beautiful shots Chip.
Loveland Pass used to have some of the last-melting snowpack. Fond memories of skiing a A-Basin in the 1980's.
