Personally, I thought the NAACP needed to go the way of the KKK, as it seemed to exist to be the opposite of the KKK (well, maybe the Black Panthers, but...) I'm good with all these organizations that are based on race going away. I don't have a problem with racial pride at all, but I do think the organizations that seek racial victims are hurting society and most often the supposed victims most. With that in mind, I think a white woman leading the NAACP should piss off poor blacks that keep being told they are victims because of white privilege. Yeah well, a white woman is now running the organization that is supposed to advance you. She broke through the glass ceiling and not you. Maybe you should quit giving them your support and listening to them.
Alas, if this doesn't offend you, then perhaps it is evidence we are post racial, and it doesn't matter who runs the NAACP. Fine, can we quit then worrying about the color of the people running corporations, because we certainly don't seem to care about the lack of color among DemocratPresidentialCampaignStaffs.
But this is not the typical dyed-in-the-wool identity switch and there is no reason her prospects should darken. So just tone it down, there are no shades of racism here. She was raised as a black girl and leopards cannot change their spots. Unless they undergo cancer treatments then all spot-related bets are off.
"Race" is and always was (in America) "fungible". Once the slaveowner raped you it didn't matter how light or dark your bastard kids were - they were raised with the slave and considered "black" forevermore. "Black" meant slave and "white" meant non-slave.

Wasn't there a book "Black like me" about a brave white man who pretended to be a black man to understand all the discrimination?
This seems similar although, she seems to have wanted all the benefits of being black.
