Americans believe one out of every five Americans is gay or lesbian

"The American public estimates on average that 23% of Americans are gay or lesbian, little changed from Americans' 25% estimate in 2011, and only slightly higher than separate 2002 estimates of the gay and lesbian population. These estimates are many times higher than the 3.8% of the adult population who identified themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender in Gallup Daily tracking in the first four months of this year."

What they believe vs. what is, are two different things, which makes this survey both ridiculous and nefarious. The reason it's ridiculous is because 2% - 4% of the national population is homosexual and that might be stretching it. This percentage is also a global figure as well. The reason it is nefarious is because media has been so successful at maturation, ingrainment, and indoctrination of homosexuality representation in reality shows, cable tv shows, and in entertainment shows, print and internet media that the damage is now done.

Rush was saying something along those line.

You would think trying to fundamentally change marriage would be to "benefit" a substantial number of people.

The short of it; we have been lied to.

Chip Ahoy said...

I have no idea what percentage of gays there are nor how such a thing would be measured, all I know is I wish all these homos would stop blowing me all the time. Cannot even take a walk without being sized up.

®™'ed Ace joke.

Maybe this "universal suffrage" thing isn't such a good idea after all.

This a good example of our collective knumb-skullery and why America may be doomed.

Methadras said...

Lem, I didn't listen to Rush, so I don't know what he said, but I've been saying this for years, here and at TOP.

Amartel said...

Perception v. reality. If you watch a lot of tv that's the conclusion you'd reach, too.

Old stat going back about 5 years.

Too many people watching "Will and Grace" reruns without thinking what VD stats would be if it were true.

CDC says it's about 1.3% and a number of private outfits put it at about .5 - 1.5%, so it's probably right.

I always like Bill Buckley's take - it should be Invitation Only.

We've always been like that.

Think PT Barnum and HL Mencken.

Per Amartel, if I think about TV shows I watch that have gay characters it could be at least 60-70%..Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, Modern Family, Chicago Fire,Shameless, Walking Dead, Nashville.

Shows that don't have gay characters [yet] Big Bang Theory, Chicago PD, Shark Tank.

On second thought, it might be that the great unwashed masses are onto something. Lets look at the local population:

1. Titus - loud and proud.
2. Ritmo - biploar and bisexual.
3. Trooper - professional tittie wrangler/not in jail/nuff said.
4. Bags - Californian.
5. ARM - admirer of ancient Greeks.
6. Meade - trannie/gave away his balls a few years back.
7. Eric - polysexual/needs his own letter.
8. Inga - definitely has a penis.
9. Rabel - currently cismalenormative, but the Smithsonian has requested my johnson for display so change may be coming.

Now, these are speculative and some could be in error, but if I'm correct, that 20% figure may not be so far off.

At least we haven't got the required token gay to go along with the token black, token Hispanic, token pain-in-the-ass feminist on all the TV shows.

Yet.

Or have we?

Imagine "Bonanza" with a token black brother, token Mexican brother, and a token - well, he never would have had to worry about service in the Civil War.

AllenS said...

Oh, that's just gay.

Trooper York said...

Heres the thing.

The gay mafia is stuffing the gay thing down America's throat so to speak. The gay marriage thing is not enough for them. It is never enough for them. The continue to force their agenda.

There is a case currently in Canada where a religious man agreed to make a custom ring for a same sex marriage. A custom ring where he had to order specific supplies to complete it. When the gay couple found out about his religious beliefs they demanded their money back and started a campaign to harass him and to drive him out of business. It is not enough to provide service. You can not even have personal beliefs that conflict with their politically correct love of sodomites and their activities.

Trooper York said...

The reality is there have always been gay characters on TV.

I mean everybody knew that Tony Randal played a gay man in the Odd Couple. He is so obviously a sword swallower that it was a convention that you ignored it but you knew what was going on. That is why the Pigeon sisters were always so nervous. They didn't want to get stuck with the Mo.

The current remake of the Odd Couple is ridiculous for this very reason. Felix Unger is no longer a creditable character.

Trooper York said...

There were gay characters on Bonanza.

Candy? Com'on with a name like that he had to be light in the spurs.

Plus I always thought that Hop Sing was a bit of a Lady Boy.

Titus said...

I am actually not loud and proud.

I only talk about gay here and Althouse.

I never tell my friends my stories....I am a private person and considered introverted...seriously.

I never talk gay with family either. They haven't even met my hubby....my dad would be so confused-I want to spare him the questioning. He still asks me when am I going to bring home a "hot babe".

Never at work during the day. The SVP of my office asked me "my story" and I told her I was fag, but never talked about it again.

Your the lucky ones-you really know me! hugs.

Titus said...

Plus my husband is brown and my parent would not understand his British accent.

And talk about not proud and out-that would be my hubby. Absolutely no one knows about him, he is totally straight, and all his friends are straight.

He knows nothing about the gay. He never heard of Harvey Milk, Stonewall or the Village People. We watched Milk and he thought it was fiction.

Hell, you all know more gay than he does.

chickelit said...

It's probably a safe bet that one out every five dollars in Dem politics is from gay donors. Why else would they pander so hard?

ricpic said...

Jeez, the illusions just keep dropping away:

Rabel - currently cismalenormative, but the Smithsonian has requested my Johnson for display so change may be coming.

Based on all those posts hinting at how you were ravished by this or that female I coulda sworn you were a lesbo. But given that you talk about being currently one thing and something else may be coming I'll just classify you as evolving.

And Titus, I wish you would stop pussy-footing around about your status. You're a faggot? Be a PROUD FAGGOT! None of this aw shucks ma, crap, 'kay?

chickelit said...

Hell, the amount of money given by David Geffen alone is probably a sizable portion of the DNC budget.

chickelit said...

Titus, didn't you say that your mom and sister know all about you? Isn't there any pillow talk between your mom and dad? What about an angry sibling spilling the beans to wreck your status as heir to Clumberland Estates?

The rate is only that high in the Republican party.

Ritmo, you're so schiz, you could have a foursome all by yourself. I guess I'm just envious.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Lol.

Imagine Mark Foley, Larry Craig, David Vitters, and Bob Packwood. All as part of a "congressional committee" of some sort.

I think now I know why Republicans always make reference to "getting together and rolling up their sleeves" whenever they use rhetoric about actually getting anything done for a change.

chickelit said...

As I recall Larry Craig took a pretty broad stance on LGBLT issues, although he didn't stand with broads.

Foley took a page out of Barney Franks book, except that Fwank was celebrated and applauded for it. And unlike good ol' Bob, BF really did pack wood.

David Vitter will probably be LA's next governor as the D's continue their nationwide goobernatorial meltdown.

Trooper York said...

Then you had Charles Nelson Reilly on the Ghost and Mrs. Murier.

Dead ringer for Titus.

chickelit said...

As the most celebrated and looked-up to openly gay member of Congress, Barney Frank could take the fist-to-cuffs. Of course that stained, but nothing a little Wisk couldn't take care of.

Paul Lynde was always bringing the gay to sixties sitcoms.

He was the gay Uncle on Bewitched.

He played a gay Mountie on F Troop.

He was the brown square on Hollywood Squares.

Trooper York said...

Now there were even more perverted sickos on sixties sitcoms.

Wilbur would rather curry comb his palomino than bang his luscious wife Connie Hines who was one of top five hottest sitcom stars on sixties TV.

Trooper York said...

Mrs Hathaway?

Seriously?

Trooper York said...

I mean if you hire a butler and his name is Mr. French?

Really?

Trooper York said...

There have always gays on a TV but they did their filthy business in private and left the rest of us alone.

What's so terrible about that?

Trooper York said...

Once we get them to shut up maybe we can start with the Negros. Just sayn'

chickelit said...

Troop, your take on 60's TV is always spot-on. Or as the Brits say, "bang-on."

6. Meade - trannie/gave away his balls a few years back.

I did. It's true. Boy, was that ever a mistake.

But then, a few years later — thanks heaven — that bad call got reversed. Whew! — talk about a close call.

And not a day goes by that I fail to say a little prayer of thanks for Rabel's mother's decision to give me back my balls.

I got my balls back and she kept that little cisbastard Rabel. (Although I read something on Facebook about her planning to have him institutionalized.)

(Thank you, Jesus. Thank you.)

Titus said...

Of course my family knows but we don't talk about it chick. I mean, really, what do I have to say to them? I did a guy from Brooklyn on a plane last week? Please.

Clumberland Estates is still all mine, even though I am a big fag.

Titus said...

I thought pubes get rid of their crap. You all always say that.

Why is David Vitter going to be the new governor of Louisiana?

Oh right, God called him and said it was ok.

Vitter did prostitutes.

I know Kennedy killed a woman...Chapa whatever.

My brother said of his first son, "They're deciding what to put in the yearbook (at 4?) and the girls wanted dragons and Daniel wanted flowers." So far he self-identifies as little kid.

Don't get excited Titus.

Yeah ok let's COMPLETELY ignore the whole underage aspect of THAT.

Trooper York said...

There is actually a show called "Jack and Triumph Show" on Adult Swim that is hilarious. It costars the gay dude that played the page on Thirty Rock and it is sort of a bizzaro Lassie.

Very funny shit right there.

Trooper York said...

Of course Truimph stole Titus's catch phrase.

"For me to poop on!"

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Yeah - I remember hearing something about that show and was curious about it, but like everything Triumph does, no one really seems to find out anything until two years later when it becomes an overwhelming instant cult classic.
