"College Professor Bans Student From Class For His Views On Rape"

"The 19-year-old told BuzzFeed News that his professor, Pancho Savery, warned him repeatedly that his views made his classmates uncomfortable before he told him in a March 14 email that he was no longer welcome to participate in the “conference” section of his Humanities 110 lecture-seminar class."
“Please know that this was a difficult decision for me to make and one that I have never made before; nevertheless, in light of the serious stress you have caused your classmates, I feel that I have no other choice,” Savery wrote in the email, obtained by BuzzFeed News.

True, whose Facebook page says he studies “How to Annoy People” at Reed, takes pride in challenging his classmates’ opinions. (read the whole thing)

Reed.
They were a bunch of douchebags back in the 80s when I was looking at colleges and they've just gotten douchier.
The Reed College motto: Turning women into girls (and men into objects of derision).
I can't believe people pay for this.

My inclination is to presume that the professor had good cause to ban the guy because he was obnoxious and that the substance of the guy's comments had very little, if anything, to do with it.

The guy's Facebook motto is something about majoring in annoying other people AND he totally looks like a special snowflake (has a parrot) BUT those morons who whine about being "uncomfortable" with his presentation of facts, and the professor who just can't deal with free speech outside the assigned narrative are pitiful.

The motto of Reed College is: "Communism, Atheism, Free Love"

Just sayin: where's the free love?

Under the Reed College's Honor Principle, there are no codified rules governing behavior. Rather, the onus is on students individually and as a community to define which behaviors are acceptable and which are not.

What could go wrong with that?

I had an uncle who graduated Reed, this must have been back in the early '60s, and eventually became a higher up at IBM. So I guess the place doesn't turn out only hipsters.
