Obama: U.S. Will Not Fight Another Ground War in Iraq

"The U.S. will not send armed forces to fight a ground war in Iraq, President Barack Obama reiterated Wednesday, a day after his top military adviser said he could envision recommending that the president deploy ground troops there."

"It is more effective to use our unique capabilities in support of our partners on the ground so they can secure their own countries' futures," Obama told service members at U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Florida. "That is the only solution that will succeed over the long term."

It's all about Obama and he has 2 more years. War will come to us and he still won't commit ground troops.

Whatevah king putt.

"I want to be clear: The American forces that have been deployed to Iraq do not and will not have a combat mission," Mr Obama said.

Churchill's got nothing on this guy.

Do you think we're in the same position with ISIL that the Brits were in vis a vis the Nazis?

Obama announces what options are off the table.

Who are "we" and what is their Dunkirk?

Not yet.

Not yet.

I don't either. I'm concerned too, though.

We shall not fight on the beaches, we shall not fight on the landing grounds, we shall not fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall not fight in the hills; we shall surrender...

To be topical, Obama should deliver that wearing Mel's blue face paint.

Captain Feckless McDither delivers yet another sonorous speech full of words that expired and fell to the floor almost immediately after exiting his mouth.

LET ME BE CLEAR, sez McDither, YOU HAVE BUT ONE LIFE TO GIVE FOR MY WEAKNESS.

Do you think that's a good position to be in?
Do you think we, the U.S., should wait around for direct hits before taking action?
Do you think Obama ended the war in Iraq?
Do you think that "war" in that sentence means "boots on the ground"?
Do you think putting boots on the ground will just start up the "boots on the ground" all over again?

Could substitute "LEGACY" for WEAKNESS.
Or just cut to the bottom line and say "ME" You have but one life to give for ME. Can't argue with that logic (unless you believe in reincarnation and plan on coming back as an Obamabot).

That's the true meaning of the stars and stripes! Meeeeeeeee.

I never said we were in that position.

Sure, let's wait until ISIS is in Kentucky and fight them there, that way Obama can keep his promise to stop fighting in Iraq.

Or just shortcut the process and go ahead and declare the US a caliphate and Obama the top Imam. That's the goal, right?

Hey, remember when you were a kid and were playing tag with other kids? The easiest way to tag someone else is if the other players were all grouped together. You'd run into he group and tag someone because that was easier than running all over the place trying to catch one person.

The ISIS fighters are all grouped together in Syria and Iraq now. Only an idiot would think it would be wrong to "tag" them now rather than later when they are spread out all over the place.

And when IS says, "Oh, yes, you are..."?

We're arming moderate extremists to fight an Unwar against NotIslam.

So we've got THAT going for us.

Objection nonresponsive.

It was definitely not a good position for Britain to be in.

Way off topic, but I've got a little bit of a buzz going.

In the basement before dinner, I was doing a strange, bastardized exercise called a "Clean Deadlift and Shrug."

Ten sets of ten reps. I use a timer in between sets. It's as much cardio as it is weightlifting. It has become my go-to favorite.

That's what comes first and then I build from there.

NRBQ on the stereo, in case anyone cares.

No? I didn't think so.

That's okay. I like you anyway.

Leon Panetta spoke at a symposium at New Mexico State University yesterday and said he was with General Dempsey all the way, and Obama is going to have to put "boots on the ground" in Iraq/Syria sooner rather than later.

I think the party regulars may well be splitting from the dot.com utopians.
