And.. he played the guitar upside down and backwards. Very cool and very hard.

Meaning he took a regular stringed guitar, flipped it over to be a lefty, but retained the stringing for a right handed guitar.

Plus that chick in front, white dress, could churn butter with her ass.

I get a kick out of seeing him play that upside down guitar - all the treble notes are coming from where the low E string should be.

Was his group known as the "Thora-Zines"? Not the liveliest rhythm section I ever saw, just sayin'...

Who knew Jack Webb was a drummer too!

I remember when that song came out... and how exotic it sounded. Though the line-up of the band... jeeze.

I think they were the original Dul Tones.

I've seen that second video before. I thought that guy was native American... didn't make him as middle eastern.

So, I see on twitter that people are gathering at NYC Union Square in solidarity... or something, with the people of Ferguson.

People got too much free time.

Maybe they'll break some windows in solidarity -- have real Kristallnacht. Or maybe just shit on some cop cars. The NYC mayor will cheer them on.

I'm hearing a lot of sympathy on the right for the stop the militarization of the cops and not much about the idiocy of the looters.

One of the best (so far) comments I've read on the Ferguson thing appeared over on Althouse {Althouse link alert]: link. It just blows out of the water the entitled WaPo reporter's rant about his unjustified arrest. If some of these entitled journolistic fucks had ever actually worked retail they'd understand the reality of the situation.

I quickly skimmed that comment thread in the link just to see how many turds Crack floated in that punch bowl.

Didn't read them, didn't count them, but I am going to guess that the content was something along the lines of "y'all racist, now gimme money".

How about showing some solidarity with western civilization and getting a job? Doing something constructive with your life? Is that too much to ask?

Lazy and stupid - not a good way to go through life, but hey, as long as we are paying his way, maybe it works for him.

Chick...I agree with the comment part, but I found Althouse's presumptions about Detroit to be spurious bullshit. She was not here...she came to U of M after the "riot" she speaks of, and her memory is pure conjecture. Typical, of course.

I was here, 1967, 23 July, and in the middle of the conflagration, in fact, due to friends I had who lived in the middle of it all...never mind me who lived at 2nd St and Forest Avenue at the time....check it on a map, not exactly suburbia.

The Detroit "riot" was a self-destruction of the black community, and its effects linger to this day. BTW...in Detroit, in 1967, the Detroit Cops mostly stood back and did NOT engage...all that bullshit you read is just that. I was there, I drove to work across West Grand Blvd, at McGraw st, and saw the M-60 tank on the median hosing the building nearest me with .50 caliber HMG fire...then the light turned green and I moved on to my work at a near-by manufacturer.

A normal day...almost. But for the shotgun across my lap and the shooting otherwise, yep, a normal day...for that time.

Okay, I did the same and quit before I fell asleep. Sadly, Crack just did not get it about the Detroit "riot" and perhaps never will (he's among many not from Detroit who have this problem) ...he's read what he thinks are gospel about it, right?

Truth is that among my greatest concerns during the riot was a best friend's move from his house, that he owned on Virgina Park to a new home, which he bought, for his family, on Ohio Street, near a university....he insisted in moving on Wednesday of that week, in the midst of the conflagration. He insisted I stay out of it fearing that my white face would be more a problem than his black face in a rented truck. We were truly fucked up in those days.

It nearly killed me emotionally, but I did drive to his old home and silently stood guard...then moved out to his new home and again, a few doors away, stood guard. I loved that guy and I was not about to let anyone hurt him, or his wife and kids, black or white, or anything else. That fucking riot had nothing to do with civil rights, just pure anger and hate, without direction of consequence.

How do I know that? Easy...the rioting ended at the edge of the black community, it did not spread in to any white areas to any extent...a bunch of drunks on a Sunday night blew up a city and even today assholes think that was a good thing! 42 died officially, triple that and you'll still be shy...bodies in the river weren't counted.

I actually still "hate" mother fuckers who try to tell me about the Detroit Riots...if you were not here, in the midst, shut the fuck up.

The Missouri State Police Captain spoke yesterday and said essentially the same thing I have been saying for years....you do not resolve anything by burning your own town to the ground. That's what happened in Detroit in 1967...the agitators burned their own homes and stores. Look where we are today. Actually, there is a core constituency growing in the city core, that is black, white, yellow, et al., that may just save the place, or at least a piece of it. My daughter is part of that group and she is NOT what anyone would call a hipster...she just likes to be able to walk to work and will be happy to f'up anyone who bothers her on the way. It's a beginning.

But, say hey, if Ferguson wants a hip Mayor and administration of one color, I think Kwame Kirkpatrick might be able to run the place from federal prison where he is these days. "Y'awz Boy" can work wonders (hiz momma's quote)...for his own bank account.
