Why was I never informed of Blossom Dearie? What marvelous singing.

One of my favorite Gershwin tunes done by a great torch singer.

My late wife, Myrna, sang this and made me cry just about every time she sang it.

Blossom Dearie was well known among musicians, but never to general audiences.

She played a lot of posh hotel gigs.

She plays the piano, too.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to get my standards act together, too.

I've been planning to do that for a while. There are some hotels and cabarets in NYC that I want to hit.

One of my favorite singers. I remember listening to her LPs on my parent's 1950's stretched out Hi Fi stereo. I really love this style of music.

Her name is fabulous too.

If you like Blossom Dearie, you might like

Diana Krall Not one of her more traditional tunes but shows her jazz piano chops.

Sounds like fun, Shout.

You're lucky you were exposed to her early, DBQ. My parents had a stack of LPs my sisters and I used to listen to...Herb Alpert, Al Hirt, South Pacific, all kinds of Roger Williams and other band leaders types, Chubby Checker, etc. And of course the 45s. Johnny Angel, how I love you :)

I like Krall...thanks for the jazz piano highlight, didn't know that about her.

Euler the One?

With no one informing you about her, how did you happen to find this sweet Blossom?
