KLEM FM

Cowgirl In The Sand

Tried that once on a beach & I don't recommend it. Grittier than sixty and it chafed.  Didn't take no 10 minutes either.

Why do the lyrics remind me of Hanna Rosin and Maureen Dowd?

Hello cowgirl in the sand
Is this place
at your command
Can I stay here
for a while
Can I see your
sweet sweet smile
Old enough now
to change your name
When so many love you
is it the same?
It's the woman in you
that makes you want
to play this game.

Hello ruby in the dust
Has your band
begun to rust
After all
the sin we've had
I was hopin' that
we'd turn bad
Old enough now
to change your name
When so many love you
is it the same
It's the woman in you
that makes you want
to play this game.

Hello woman of my dreams
This is not
the way it seems
Purple words
on a grey background
To be a woman
and to be turned down
Old enough now
to change your name
When so many love you
is it the same
It's the woman in you
that makes you want
to play this game.

Do I look like Bruce Springsteen?

I was kind of upset to read your take on that song. I got "Decade" back when I was a sophomore in high school and I wore out the grooves on "Cowgirl in the Sand."

I had to listen to it with headphones because . . . well, because I wasn't allowed to make any noise.

I loved that song in a way I can't possibly explain. It was as if I wasn't alone. Or at least, it was as if being so very lonely wasn't anything to be so very ashamed of, if someone else could say they felt the same way out loud to music.

The thought never occured to me that it's a dirty song.

I thought it was beautiful.

I usually have one phrase that pops in a song. Before chick posted the lyrics, I was considering posting:

Purple words on a grey background
To be a woman and to be turned down.

Forget it, now that you've inserted your disgusting Dowd allusion to purple prose.

And totally messed Bat over with your sandy vagina imagery.

@Deborah: I'll have you know that the bat is not pure as Ivory snow,

But I am sorry that I upset you.

You didn't upset me, you disappointed me.

Bat may be Lava soap, but he is crushed. I hope you're proud of yourself.

There are songs that you couldn't possibly ruin simply because they're so awful to begin with. Anything by Bon Jovi, for example.

(1) Bat may be Lava soap, but he is crushed. I hope you're proud of yourself.

A halfway decent night's sleep, an extended session of force-feeding and medicating the cat, a very hot shower, a fully uneventful and pleasant commute to work, . . . and I'm back to normal, such as it is.

(2)Every song is golden.

Heart of golden, that is.

Bless you, Bat.
