Why I Hope The Broncos Win The Super Bowl

Because of this.

"Bro, you have tons of class, but you have shown no mercy or grace to this lady who was on her knees seeing if you had a stress fracture. ...

"She was minding her own business when your book came out. Peyton, the way I see it, at this point, you are going to take a hit either way, if you settle out of court or if it goes to court. You might as well maintain some dignity and admit to what happened. ... Your celebrity doesn't mean you can treat folks that way. ... Do the right thing here."

Which is why I'm rooting for the Seahawks. I like it when the private persona is better than the public persona, not the other way around.

Good to see pick giving vent to his inner feminist. Or maybe his inner Gator fan.

But, no, you're wrong about Peyton. Good guy, class act, great family.

Class acts don't shove their asses in someone's face and then lie about the incident publicly and, according to someone that was there, vindictively. I choose that particular quote for a reason.

And all Gator fans are assholes, 'tis true. But we also know that Peyton Manning isn't the saint his team of handlers have carefully crafted.

We also know that he never beat Danny Wuerffel. And that unlike other former Denver QBs, he hasn't won both a playoff game AND a Heisman trophy.

Hmm, that wouldn't be John Elway either. Hmm.

Rabel, it's ultimately a matter of what people do when they think they can get away with something. Mailbox Head thought he could get away with first, abusing a trainer for kicks, and second slamming her in a book when the event had largely been even more forgotten than it is now.

On the other hand, Danny Wuerffel, who made some money in his brief NFL career and could have certainly found something profitable to do with his post-NFL career (lots of Gator boosters remember him fondly) instead choose to go run a ministry in one of the worst places in America. He didn't have to do that, and he didn't have a horde of people crafting his image carefully.

"He is a giant who created an economy that richly supports them. But moreover, he is their friend who, even after moving to Denver, still calls to speak with them specifically on the phone every few weeks."

I've heard of people like that.

It's one thing to like the guy because he is a helluva (regular season) quarterback. But to sanctify him? Sorry, his ass is made of clay, and if he doesn't think anyone is looking he will shove it in your face. The Peyton Manning of this video is a bit closer to the truth than his fans would ever acknowledge.

I'm sure they also had press agents.

Icepick, I won't try to change your mind, but he mooned somebody when he was in college.

It was a joke. She made a stink and got paid.

I don't see the problem.

Well Peyton is gonna lose. He is not as clutch as his brother. The wrong brother is in the Super Bowl.

Crack says only racists root against the Seahawks. Atticus Finch would've been a Richard Sherman supporter.

That's why I'm a Bronco fan.

NO, Rabel, he didn't moon her. THat was his cover story, as later copped to by another trainer. He had her come over to check for a possible stress fracture in his lower leg/foot. When she was bent down behind him he dropped his pants and shoved his ass in her face, pinning her with his asshole on her face. UT had to settle up on the matter.

Several years later, he wrote about the incident in his auto-bio with his father, and trashed the woman. At that point, after the trashing, she sued him. He settled eventually.

And my first comment? That was by someone who was present at the incident, and the quote came from a letter the other person wrote to Manning that got introduced as evidence in court.

So, not just a mooning, and he made a point of publicly going after the woman at a much later point when he should have left matters alone.

The man IS a giant asshole. But then, there are always people looking to defend the rich and famous and forgive them anything.

Okay, that's reasoning I can understand.

...

And for the record, if you're a Broncos fan, so be it. Every team in the League has scumbags on the team. But this sanctifying of players, especially players who don't have such great records as human beings, is bullshit.

Dude. You've got to let go of it.

So pick, what's your opinion of Aaron Hernandez?

Let go of what?

You know who is the better quarterback.

The two time Super Bowl MVP.
