"California illegal immigrants can get law license, state Supreme Court rules"

"Citing a new state law allowing illegal immigrants to get their law licenses, the California Supreme Court on Thursday paved the way for a Chico man to fulfill his dream of becoming an attorney despite his not being a U.S. citizen."
In a unanimous ruling, the state Supreme Court determined there is no reason to block Sergio Garcia's bid for a California law license, now that a new law permits the state's high court to give such licenses to immigrants who are not yet citizens. State legislators, backed by Gov. Jerry Brown, pushed the legislation last fall as Garcia's case was unfolding in the Supreme Court.
It is sick and getting sicker.

A citizen who commits a crime cannot practice law.

A non citizen who breaks the law by living here illegally can practice law.

My solution? Abolish the INS and just let any and every one come.

That'll work really well.

JAL, that's what they're trying to do, with Boehner currently leading on this issue. Expect for a slimy deal to be done whereby Republicans say one thing about immigration reform before the 2014 elections, and do the exact opposite immediately after the elections.

When our own courts sanction the breaking of our own immigration laws, we are screwed.

What do we expect?

The Lefties will find a justification for anything that advances their agenda.

Considering how well ChoomCare is working, just let them hang themselves. They haven't gotten anything right since WWII.

Ed, the Republican Party has pushed hard for amnesty and defacto open borders since the Reagan Administration. Care to identify the conservatives?

They probably figured, what the hell, he's been voting for 10 years, so why not?

Some of the Republican Party has; others have opposed it, that's the whole point.

There are those that have fought against this and they're the ones to support.

BTW, the Lefties have gotten to the point where they're just making it up as they go along to justify what they learned at Haavahd. When you consider that they've failed with the economy, healthcare (and social policy, generally), finance, and foreign policy, it's obvious that they're just heading down a blind alley.

Even the Communists had a plan - this crowd doesn't even have that.

Garcia can be admitted to the bar but, for now, apparently he can't be hired by a law firm and can only practice in a limited way:

"Another federal statute prohibits employers from hiring immigrants who lack work authorization. In briefs filed with the court, Garcia, the bar committee and the Justice Department agree that means that under current law, he can’t be hired by a law firm.

But the committee [of bar examiners] and Garcia contend he can work as a lawyer by being an independent contractor and having a solo practice. The Justice Department disagrees.

In addition, there is general agreement that Garcia could work for free, or pro bono, on public-interest cases, the court said.

[His lawyer] said Garcia plans to work as an independent contractor while awaiting his permanent residency authorization."

Ed, the party leadership has been pretty firmly behind amnesty and open borders. It has only been the voters from red states raising hell with their own representatives that has accomplished anything.

And effectively we've already got open borders, as neither side is really doing jack shit to enforce border security. They're too bus feeling up grandmothers in airports and trying to see what kind of porn everyone is looking up with their cell phones to actually, you know, do their fucking jobs.

We're the children of immigrants and the grandparents of anti immigrants. I live in NYC and know plenty of immigrants. For the most part, they're good people with a superior work ethic. People don't travel thousands of miles to sit on their asses. They can do that at home and in a better climate. They've been the saving of NYC......That said, it should be noted that there are some pigs that are just too fat for the python to swallow. If too many from there come here, then here becomes there and the pig starts feeding on the python's intestines.

Yeah, William, they're willing to work hard and for less. Which helps explain why median incomes have been falling ever since that shit Ted Kennedy wrote the new immigration scheme back in the 1960s. As opposed to the very restrictive immigration laws passed in the 1920s and the commensurate Great Compression.

This is just whistling past the graveyard known as America. This will never get better until leftists are basically dead and their ideology is erased from all human existence and memory.

He cannot practice in Federal Court and he cannot be an employee of a law firm or corporation in the capacity of attorney. He can only be solo practice.

ALL attorneys are Officers of the Court. Guv Moonbeam may be the first to do this horseshit, but Super Mario won't be far behind.
