40 Car Pile Up Caught On Camera

In yesterday's snow storm, near where I live.  People driving far too fast, as usual.

Impressive, but what prompts people to wander around on foot in the middle of that kind of automotive carnage?

It sort of reminds you of...Obamacare!

@ about 4:24 - the super moron arrives.

Some of the smart ones slow down and escape out the small hole.
The people who are out walking around must have a death wish.

She might be a super moron, but she picked up the 7-10 split.

If you had more Asian drivers there this kind of thing wouldn't be possible.

To be generous, perhaps the pedestrians were checking on other drivers or passengers to see if aid could be rendered. But you could pay a high price for such an action, just saying.

The only responsible drivers appear to be the ones in trucks.

I take it this is the first time it has ever snowed in Wisconsin?

It was remarkable here yesterday during the snow storm. There were at least four 40+ car pile-ups in the interstate in various parts of SE Wisconsin. The one in the linked video was the least bad.

The others resulted in fatalities, usually by a semi running over a car, or a car sliding under a semi. As usual, some idiots simply believe that they are exempt from the laws of physics when road conditions change.

It was interesting that a cluster of observers formed in one of the traffic lanes. Duh!

I'm off to babysit my 9 year old non-verbal nephew with autism.
A while back he emptied the entire hand soap dispenser and smeared foamy all over the mirror.
Mom switched to bar soap.
No good. He takes the bar soap and flushes it down the toilet. I was there yesterday and sure enough - he flushed the soap down the toilet again. Mom switched to mini-bar soaps, too.

Try soap on a rope.

I thought the term "cheesehead" was just a euphemism, but now I realize it accurately describes the cranial contents of many Wisconsin drivers.

It finally stopped after Wal-Mart showed.

Bullshit, the chinks would make it worse.

Spare us the bowling analogies. :)

Asian drivers would have stopped moving when the snow started, maybe even as soon as snow was predicted.

There is no stereotype as accurate as the Asian driver. I live and work around a lot of them, but they are still a small minority, yet when there is someone holding up traffic on the freeway, it's an Asian man or woman 9 out of 10 times. I've been watching and counting for a coupe years now, and I always look to see who it is at the front of the long backup of cars in the fast lane forcing everyone around them like a rock in a stream. One good thing is that they are rarely on their cell phone or doing makeup or eating. They have the hands at 10 and 2 and apparently one foot on the bake at all times.

Facts are racist sometimes.

That was cool.

Thank God for the internet.

Any info on the camera that caught the action? Government? Private?

Michael Haz said...

It was a government camera. Dept of Transportation.

Strike while the irony is hot, am I right, Lem?

Soap on a chain rope, perhaps.
The twerp set up shop in the bathroom again. He was in there for at least 30 minutes. Running water down the drain and making bubbles (and a mess) with what was left of the empty liquid soap bottles under the sink. Poor mom has to hide everything. The mad scientist found left over soap in the empty pump.

He is non-verbal, but he can scream and whine with the best of em'. oy.

Many Northerners think they know how to drive on snow because they are usually driving on plowed and salted roads. If they are on the road before the plows get there, they are just as dangerous as those inexperienced with snow.

I once drove from Rantoul, IL to Veedersburg, IN in a snow storm. Every time I felt my tires loosing traction, I slowed down 5 MPH. Eventually, I was going about half the speed limit. I was passed by many cars with IL plates. Before the end of the trip, I saw everyone of those cars in the ditch, one of them upside down.
