If they're going to let rappers in (and they do), then it's stupid to not have NWA and LL Cool J in there. (I don't care for NWA, but LL is good stuff.)

And it is also absurd that KISS and Deep Purple aren't in. But this has got to be the most useless HOF out there.

And it's an ugly building, to boot. Way to go, Cleveland.

Cover queen Linda F'n Ronstadt?!? Puh-lease.

If KISS doesn't make it in the place will be even more of a joke.

Nirvana is a shoo-in and Dave Grohl can represent; I met my wife at a Replacement concert; I never liked KISS; I'm surprised Deep Purple isn't in already; Link Wray is dead, so who will represent?; Yes to "Yes"; Zombies too; Genesis is in right, so why PG?; never heard of "The Meters"; N.W.A. and LJ Cool: present.

@Chickenman/

The Meters is a New Orleans band--a home-grown legend that has had a wide-ranging influence on LOTS of other musicians..

The standards seems awfully low. In the NFL guys who were major contributors to good teams for the entirety of their careers routinely fail to make the HOF.

Why not just make it a Hall for Anyone with Radioplay from More than One Album?

Thanks virgil. Kind of like "The Replacements" are a local Minneapolis band.

@Marshall: I agree, the standards are declining, as is the genre, which is sort of boomer-defined anyway.

Call it the Popular Music Approved by Rolling Stone Magazine Hall of Fame and be done with it.

I think they should pick Pete Rose.

I don't know who produced/sang Dancing Queen, but if they are ever granted this privilege, I want who nominated them, DEAD!

Calypso Facto said...

Not that I'm admitting to knowing who sang Dancing Queen, AllenS, but you're way too late. Inducted in 2010.

Linda Ronstadt is so old that I actually enjoy her music. She's been successful in operetta, c & w, Latin, rock, and standards. If she gets rejected here I hope the operetta hall of fame inducts her. She's was better than Jeanette McDonald.

Allen,
Maybe this with sooth your feverish brow.

Or this?

But Allen, admit it, we know you. this is REALLY what you want.

You know you want to dance to it, c'mon no one is watching.

About rap, anything that you cannot hum or whistle the tune to is not music--rock and roll or not.
