The sad irony of the title of the new CD Nancy LaMott: Live at Tavern on the Green is inescapable. As her many fans know all too well, Nancy LaMott died of uterine cancer at age 43 in 1995. Composer-conductor David Friedman was and continues to be a great champion of the singer's artistry; indeed, he founded the record company Midder Music specifically for her. Now, that company has released the first "live" LaMott CD, recorded in the Chestnut Room at Tavern on the Green just seven weeks before her passing.
Does anyone here know how to discipline a pet turtle?
Bring out some black beans and put them near the turtle tank. Then casually mention (within earshot of the tank) you are looking for a good turtle soup recipe...
I went out and watched the meteors. There were about one every two or three minutes. They were subtle, but I was getting too much light pollution. Out in the country it would be much better.

Most local lawman jobs paid next to nothing, so lawmen were allowed to sideline. Dealing a little faro was OK, everybody in the West gambled. With a male to female ratio of ~25 to 1 (sometimes more), running a house was regarded as a necessary industry for public order (until the mail order brides began rolling in).
And not all were professional gunfighters. That was something of a last resort. A lot of the lawmen lost to history were men who could enforce the law, backed up by an armed populace.
I knew a Brazilian lady who had several tapes full of different covers of this. She was a masseuse and would play the tape as she worked.
It was good music to get massaged to.
Everytime I go to my masseuse, who is very good by the way, she always has that airy fairy angel harp music in the background playing. So annoying. So I told her this and she asked me if I'd rather listen to Yanni or Enya and I gave her a WTF-are-you-serious look and she shrugged her shoulders and said, "that's all I've got."

Come on, man, bring in your own music. Listen to some Motorhead, or the Butthole Surfers (I'd go with Independent Worm Saloon, but skip "Clean It Up"), or even some Megadeth. How much more relaxing can it be than Megadeth?!
