Why the name change?

The name changed but the concept remains the same.
We want to have a place for commenting.
In an email exchange with Freeman, she said "Thank you so much for creating a new comment home!"
I thought, that's exactly what the place should be called. and my Picard said ... Make it so!

Again. As I said before. Its up to us to keep it. I'm doing my best to keep it alive. Fresh. People that disrespect what we are trying to do, will be asked to leave. I just decided.

You can never comment home again?

Now I'm thinking some people may force me into doing what I don't want to do. its just what some people do. I may even have to go back to the now defunct name.

Now there is a concept. defunct. how long before a blog name is defunct. I just changed it about 20 minutes ago. and its defunct.

Its not defunct. Its on hold.

I'm not sure what's the problem you're alluding to. One of the downsides of being in charge is you have to pay attention to what's going on. Mere commenters, like me, can afford to be cursory.

Althouse ran into problems because she courted controversy. In fact, I'm not so sure it's accurate to say she ran into problems -- more like she got what she was looking for.

Why would anyone disrespect a bunch of people getting together on the internet to share their thoughts . . . just a thought.

Parliament DeFunctadelic!

Say the word, Lem, and this Leminista shall depart. You need but ask.

Google "you can never" autocomplete

you can never I

you can never go home again
you can never tell
you can never hold back spring
you can never be overdressed or overeducated

My atomic clock is two minutes fast.

It's too close to the computer and only manages to check home once every few weeks.

In the meantime it burns its candle on both ends.

All I'm asking and its really easy because I can do it. And if I can do it, anybody can do it.

I avoid getting personal.

The name doesn't matter unless you want to poke somebody with it.

It's a proper name.

If it's also meaningful as words then the words have to die out.

More math less fighting, as freeman just posted.

Jeez Lem, I didn't know those Red Sox videos would piss you off so much.

Sorry.

When I was in college, I started out in the humanities and I thought people involved in the hard sciences were a bunch of geeky weirdos.

Hoping to eventually get a paying job, I switched majors and took compsci and math and the hard sciences.

Everyone seemed astonishingly normal and contented. Zero hostility. Don't understand something? Ask for help. It was given freely and gladly. No strings attached. No angles being worked. No head games.

I learned that, when it came to the social aspects of the humanities/math divide, I had gotten things exactly backwards.

That was the most important lesson of all.

This is why I always laugh when people say that we need more medical students with humanities backgrounds. Seems like the ones with science backgrounds are much less dysfunctional socially.

Two suggestions (one too late, the other too challenging)

(1) The name: alt.comment home

(2) Someone needs to design a snazzy logo like I did for Troop. I lost access to the tools to do this but I suggest a stylized Red Sox "B" made to look like an "L" for Lem.

Hee...Althouse just put up yet another post bashing us commenters...this time for "pooping in the comments." Having dumped us, seems she can't let us go. I've known a few other women like that.

I thought "Bloggenstein" was a fine name, myself.

You can change the name all you want, flip it all around, spell it backwards, switch languages back and forth, makes no difference to me and not one bit of difference to the address bar where our identity does not change. It's like dna splooging all over the place. See? Take care with the dna because now the only way to get rid of comonocreerendios-lem.blogspot.com is kill it.

You're doing fine, Lem. You've gone from zero to one hundred mph in a very short time. Good job!.

As long as it's the same web address, who cares what you call it?

Thanks.

The post at Althouse at 9:36 am sounds very angry and I'm not sure why.
